Beats me. I just revived it because I like the quote, and dislike elves.;)

I don't like elves that much either, but maybe we should abandon this thread, because it has no point!

So much for the mythic "Golden Age of the Downs" I keep hearing about... ;)

Hmmm... I think "The Golden Age of Barrow-Downs" had a lot more posters who were mostly attracted to this site through the movies, and thus a lot more activity, but as for quality? The current Barrow-Downs is better. Leastways, that's my impression after coming back to Barrow-Downs after four years of 'life'.

When Amie 's post count comes up n/a, it probably means either Amie was banned or Amie didn't last long. In that sense, the old Downs was more of a battlefield.

-- we had our Amies. True. And we had threads that snapped shut; I'm surprised that this wasn't one of them.

But we also had our Birdlands, lindils, Squatters, Sharkus, Mithadans, and the indomitable Mr. Underhill.

I miss those days.

mark12_30 04-14-2010 07:25 AM

There. Ten minutes in Haudh-En-Ndengin, and I feel much better.

Eorl of Rohan 04-14-2010 07:30 AM

Wait, Sharku and Mithadan isn't still around?

mark12_30 04-14-2010 10:44 AM

Big difference between dropping by occasionally, versus posting often. Even Mister Underhill is still here; but a post from him is now a rare and celebratory treasure.
