Marileangorifurnimaluim 03-19-2002 06:00 PM

Alchrivëwen 03-19-2002 06:18 PM

O and BTW due to other threads where not too many ppl got to post, you can post any riddle any time and well try to solve it, just give it a tag please

Samwise 03-19-2002 06:24 PM

Okay...but what do you mean by a "tag"?
Quote:

Suddenly a low voice murmured:
"Gil-Galad was an elven-king.
Of him the harpers sadly sing:
the last whose realm was fair and free
between the Mountains and the Sea.

His sword was long, his lance was keen,
his shining helm afar was seen;
the countless stars of Heaven's feild
were mirrored in his silver shield..

But long ago he rode away
and where he dwelleth none can say
for into darkness fell his star
in Mordor where the shadows are. "

The others turned in amazement, for the voice was Sam's.

Alchrivëwen 03-19-2002 06:26 PM

a title of sorts

Samwise 03-19-2002 06:43 PM

A Riddle Moved (per request of Alchrivëwen)
Okay, I never got to really try on the other thread, so...
All over the Barrowdowns me you'll find
some people think I'm not very kind
but if you don't to avoid me take heed;
I'll be sure and ruin a good read!

Yeah, easy...but it was the first thing to pop into my head.

Alchrivëwen 03-19-2002 06:47 PM

That is a very good riddle samwise, give me a clue

Galdor 03-19-2002 07:13 PM

Samwise's Riddle: A Spoiler?

Elenya 03-19-2002 07:16 PM

Hmmmm....Is it a mediator? I don't know

Samwise 03-19-2002 09:15 PM

Way to go, Galdor! See, told you it was simple!
Quote:

"That's all I know." stammered Sam, blushing. "I learned it from Mr. Bilbo when I was a lad. "

Samwise 03-20-2002 03:47 PM

Yet another easy one from Samwise
Round on the outside
Round in the center
If you pass through me
Someplace warm and cozy you may enter.

Hopefully soon I'll be able to think of something hard...
Quote:

"Elves! " exclaimed Sam. "Elves, sir!" He would have burst out of the trees and dashed off, if they had not pulled him back.

Galdor 03-20-2002 06:43 PM

What has holes but holds water?

Samwise 03-20-2002 06:57 PM

Holes but holds water...
I know this is not right, but...a cloud?

Galdor 03-20-2002 07:18 PM

Mmn... No.

Elenya 03-20-2002 07:35 PM

A sponge?

Galdor 03-20-2002 07:37 PM

Correct Elenya! Your turn.

A door to a hobbit hole.

Raefindel 03-21-2002 01:15 AM

OK, How about this:

It has feathers but no wings.
It flies and it sings.

Marileangorifurnimaluim 03-21-2002 01:19 AM

Um.. an arrow?

Raefindel 03-21-2002 01:22 AM

That's right, Maril!

How are you enjoying the snow on the first day of spring? (I live in Port Orchard)

Marileangorifurnimaluim 03-21-2002 02:33 AM

No kidding! At least if it's going to snow, some of it could stay on the ground and give me a day off.

This one's not impressive, but it's late *yawn*:

This nag rides the night
Silent with fright
But all who are near
Know nothing to fear.

Raefindel 03-21-2002 10:25 AM

A nightmare?

Actually, I thik I prefer it when it doesn't stick. then the kids don't miss school. (things really get backed up when they're home)

Elenya 03-21-2002 05:45 PM

Yeah, it's the first day of spring, it's 10 degrees out, and there's a foot of snow on the ground

Luinsewiel 03-21-2002 06:48 PM

I don't think I will ever forgive nature for this! 25cm of snow on the first day of spring.Like my sister said this morning"it's winter time" she went on to say it was every other season(shes only three)but still, it's supposed to be warm!! School was closed every where else but here it's march break! A perfectly good storm wasted. and I had to get up early and go grocery shoping before the roads got to bad I am really bad at riddles and all things that require(sp?)thinking in general but someone think up a real easy one and I'll see what I can do.

Firladion Greenbow 03-21-2002 07:56 PM

Changing colours every day,
Who knows what you will send our way,
With a light on high,
as the sheep float by.
Now you tell me,
What am I?

Marileangorifurnimaluim 03-21-2002 08:23 PM

Rae's correctly guessed mine (knew it was too easy ). A nightmare, go ahead Rae.

-Maril

Marileangorifurnimaluim 03-21-2002 08:24 PM

Greenbow, is that the sky?

Samwise 03-21-2002 10:01 PM

A door to a hobbit hole.
Yup.

"There was a lot more," said Sam, "all about Mordor. I didn't learn that part, it gave me the shivers. "

Mm...sleep, Mister Greenbow, sir?

Sam refused to leave his master. He came and sat, curled up at Frodo's feet, where at last he nodded and closed his eyes.

Raefindel 03-22-2002 01:33 AM

Sorry I made you wait. If I don't post a new one fast enough I don't mind if someone else takes a turn. (usually either my server has crashed or my Mother-in-law has come over, the latter being the worst nightmare)

Greenbow, could yours be a rainbow?

Here's one for guessing Maril's

Only one color, but not one size,
stuck at the bottom yet easily flies.
Present in sun but not in rain,
doing no harm and feeling no pain.

Marileangorifurnimaluim 03-22-2002 08:30 PM

Hmm. We wonders... snow?

Raefindel 03-22-2002 09:03 PM

Good guess, but, no. Not snow.

Very good Elanor! You're up!

ElanorGamgee 03-22-2002 10:22 PM

"What goes through the door without pinching itself? What sits on the stove without burning itself? What sits on the table and is not ashamed?"

Luinsewiel 03-23-2002 11:02 AM

Water? maybe....

ElanorGamgee 03-23-2002 04:56 PM

No, not water, but a good guess.

Samwise 03-23-2002 05:43 PM

*Another Easy One (sort of in two parts)*
---------------------------------------------
Though tiny I may be
new life springs from me.

I have neither father nor mother
but produce my own sisters and brothers.
