Joy 03-28-2002 12:06 AM

What name did Aragorn give to Denethor when he joined in battle with him to defeat the Corsiars? Also, what did this name mean?

Narya 03-28-2002 10:07 AM

Thorongil, meaning Star-eagel (or something like that..)

Joy 03-28-2002 01:19 PM

Correct Narya. Thorongil means Eagle of the Star.

Narya 03-28-2002 02:14 PM

Ok... Here´s a new one:
How many persons, that were named Denethor, lived in ME (and were mentioned in the books, of course)?
And who were these persons (race, the time they lived...)?

Nevfeniel 03-28-2002 08:02 PM

Where do you find these things?!

Belethiriel 03-28-2002 08:18 PM

two, both human, and of gondor?

alaklondewen 03-28-2002 08:34 PM

There are three, I believe.
Denethor I was the 3rd Steward of Gondor (man of course) - year 2475
Denethor II was the 26th and last Steward of Gondor who is also a man - the end of the 3rd age
The other Denethor was an Elf, the son of Lenwe, of the Sindar - first age

I hope that's right.

Narya 03-29-2002 05:02 AM

Yes, you are right alaklondewen.. Denethor | ruled in 2477 and was the 10th Steward in Gondor
