Moving thread ...

Hmm, this seems more suited to Middle-earth Mirth, so I'm moving it there.

Number 6 left unanswered, so I'd have a go

The terrorist should be one to invoke terror, so that'd be Lobelia :)

#6

A hung-over Gandalf would be strike terror, too.

Nimrothiel 03-23-2004 01:35 PM

For #6:

Tim Benzedrine...oh wait, wrong book. :D I'd honestly have to say Tom Bombadil though; he has a beard and half the time you can't understand a word he says. :p

Firefoot 03-23-2004 07:18 PM

Hmm, I think we're trying to think of the answer to the wrong one - "Tom Bomb-adil" doesn't make sense for a musical place but it does work for a terrorist. So where is the the most musical place in M-e?

Smeagol (Is me a gal?)

Yeah, dumb I know. But it's the first thing I thought of.

I read a funny riddle somewhere on the 'Downs:
Why didn't Tom Bombadil answer the phone?
Because the Ring didn't affect him! :D :D :D

Pointless Riddle

Here's one. I don't know the answer but see if you do:

How many members of the Fellowship does it take to screw in a light bulb?

Nimrothiel 04-07-2004 12:15 PM

This one's a knock-off of a Mafia joke:

Three. One to screw it in, one to stand around looking heroic *cough, Legolas, cough* and one to kill the orcs trying to stop them.

Here's a new one:

What is coloured blue and green,
which elves consider a fair sight to be seen?
It is hostile to a tree,
yet a green leaf longs to see?

Bonus points if you answer with a line from the book.

Saraphim 04-07-2004 12:40 PM

Is it the Sea? I couldn't find a quote, sorry.

~They don't need a light bulb when they have Gandalf and his staff.

~All off them! One to hold the light bulb and the rest to skrew the house on.

Nimrothiel 04-08-2004 08:02 AM

Yes, it is the sea. Here's an incomplete quote:
"Legolas Greenleaf long under tree...,
beware of the sea!"
As you can see, I don't have it memorized; nor do I have a copy of the book at hand. :o

Firefoot 04-08-2004 08:33 AM

Let's see how well I can do for memory...
"Legolas Greenleaf long under tree
In joy thou hast lived - beware of the sea!
If thou hearest the cry of the gull on the shore,
Thy heart shall dwell in the forest no more."
Quote:

How many members of the Fellowship does it take to screw in a light bulb?
-Four hobbits. Three to reach the ceiling, and another to hand the lightbulb up.

Nimrothiel 04-08-2004 12:30 PM

That sounds right; thanks. :) Um, let me think...well, it's not my best and it's rather easy, but here it goes.

"A funny little man in a mithril coat,
an axe in his hand and a gem at his throat.
If you tell me this riddle, I'll give you a groat."

Well, how about my congratulations instead of a groat? :p
