Is it Pip's scream when they let of the firework??? Or am I completly wrong... **PFC's brain explodes**

The Only Real Estel 07-25-2003 01:13 PM

Sorry, no. It isn't any sort of scream, but rather an exlamation. If that makes any sense at all...

Lyta_Underhill 07-26-2003 12:12 AM

How about everyone at Bilbo's party when he disappeared? Or was that "Oh!"

Cheers,
Lyta

Orofaniel 07-26-2003 04:32 AM

Was it Gandalf? When he found the gates of Moria?? I think he said something like ; "Ah, here is it."
I'm not sure however...

The Only Real Estel 07-26-2003 12:53 PM

Nope, & nope! Keep guessing, & tell me if you need a hint ever (this might be a little TOO hard)

Alatįriėl Lossėhelin 07-26-2003 03:28 PM

Frodo says it to Gandalf (or to himself) when he finds the envelope with the ring, just before Gandalf grabs it and tosses it into the fire?

The Only Real Estel 07-26-2003 06:48 PM

Alatariel: Excellent! You are correct. After I gave that qoute I released just how dificult that exclamation could be to catch, but I'm glad you caught it. Ask away.

The Saucepan Man 07-27-2003 08:17 PM

I think that it is best to avoid one word quotes unless they are pretty much unique. Otherwise the question just leads to a long list of answers which, although correct, are not the exact quote which the question-setter had in mind, and the question then becomes a bit of a lottery.

The Only Real Estel 07-28-2003 05:59 PM

Gotcha.

Alatariel: Whenever you're ready (this post is just in case my former one already got lost...)

Faye Took 07-30-2003 02:32 PM

Estel:

Would it be possible to have another hint? Its really hard!

Horse-Maiden of the Shire 07-30-2003 02:41 PM

Faye, Alatariel got the correct answer:
Quote:

Frodo says it to Gandalf (or to himself) when he finds the envelope with the ring, just before Gandalf grabs it and tosses it into the fire?
Just to point it out.

The Only Real Estel 07-30-2003 08:28 PM

Yeah, now we're just waiting for him/her to give her/his quote...I'll try to shy away from the one-worders from now on, though. Or at least the more common ones...

Faye Took 07-30-2003 08:54 PM

Thank you Horse-Madien of the Shire! I seem to be lagging. Sorry about that Estel.

Alatįriėl Lossėhelin 07-30-2003 09:18 PM

Ooops! Sorry for the delay...I forgot about this thread. How about this?

Quote:

Faster

Horse-Maiden of the Shire 07-30-2003 10:16 PM

Hm. Is it Merry shrieking at Frodo when the four hobbits are running to the Ferry?

Alatįriėl Lossėhelin 07-30-2003 10:54 PM

Nope, sorry, that's not it. The hobbits are yelling "Jump Frodo! Go on faster! Jump!" where 'faster' is part of a phrase. "Faster" is the entire quote/sentence.

The Only Real Estel 07-31-2003 11:24 AM

I know this one I think (I WAS going to use it in a bit, but oh well...): Is it Borimir to Merry near Caradhas (regarding another sword drill)?

Alatįriėl Lossėhelin 07-31-2003 12:42 PM

Excellent, Estel! You guessed it. Your turn.

The Only Real Estel 07-31-2003 02:11 PM

Score! Here's mine:
Quote:

"Come on!"
I think this was only used once, but I might be wrong on that (but I doubt it).

Diamond Green 07-31-2003 02:20 PM

Frodo to Sam, when Sam was saying that it was the farthest away from home he had ever been.

The Only Real Estel 07-31-2003 08:49 PM

Sorry, no. He actually says, "Come on, Sam." So you're close, but not quite.

The Saucepan Man 08-01-2003 05:43 AM

I'm still hoping to see proper quotes on this thread, rather than just exclamations.

Quote:

This, I think, illustrates the problem pretty well.

It would be a shame to have to close this thread down ...

The Only Real Estel 08-01-2003 03:28 PM

Saucepan Man: Yes, but it is hard to sneak a DEFICULT longish quote in there. Although I'll try to do just that after it gets back around to me.

The Saucepan Man 08-01-2003 05:49 PM

I'm not saying don't ever use one word or exclamation quotes - just not every question.

Surely there must be a fair few phrases and sentences amongst scenes of dialogue that are not immediately obvious. If you can't think of any of the top of your head, you can always try looking through the scripts that are available on-line.

Then again, if you've all seen the film so many times that this game doesn't present any challenge, perhaps it is time to close it down ...

No, there's no need for that. But where can I find this script? I can't seem to find it anywhere on line...& for those who have lost my quote in our conversation here it is again ( ):
Quote:

"Come on!"

Faye Took 08-01-2003 10:37 PM

Estel:

You can find the scripts for both Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers here

Firondoiel 08-02-2003 10:05 AM

Frodo to Sam near the end of the movie in the boat.

or...

Bilbo to Gandalf when he arrives at Bag-End.

or....

Pippin and Sam to Frodo at Buckleburry Ferry.

or....

Either Boromir or Legolas (I can't tell which one) to Aragorn and Frodo in Moria when the stairs are collapsing.

Is one of these the one you're looking for?

The Only Real Estel 08-02-2003 01:38 PM

Nope, it's in the first fourth or so of the movie, between the beginning & Weathertop though.

Firondoiel 08-02-2003 03:01 PM

Do you mean Frodo outside of Bree to Merry, Pippin, and Sam?

The Only Real Estel 08-02-2003 06:29 PM

Firondoiel: Aye. That was it. Lets hold off a bit on the short explamation type quotes for a while now (that's just a caution). Go ahead, Firondoiel.

It was Bilbo in the Extended Version while he was writting 'The Hobbit'.

Firondoiel 08-07-2003 12:03 PM

Correct! Please continue Miss Took.

Faye Took 08-07-2003 01:51 PM

All right! Here's an easy one.

Quote:

Is that so hard?

Firondoiel 08-07-2003 06:16 PM

Gandalf to Bilbo in Bag End after the party.

"I think you should leave the Ring behind, Bilbo. Is that so hard?"

Faye Took 08-07-2003 06:20 PM

Great job Firondoiel! You're up!

The Only Real Estel 08-07-2003 06:22 PM

Grr, I keep just missing all the quotes...

Firondoiel 08-08-2003 01:40 PM

Okay, new quote.

Pippin to Merry in the Mines of Moria, regarding his 'opinion' on there being lost at the three-way-place?
