The Might 12-29-2006 04:43 PM

it's been a month...I'm posting a new one :p

Remember those 2 guys that died long ago and someone built for them really cool statues near a river ?

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-31-2006 03:57 AM

You mean Isildur and Anárion?

The Might 12-31-2006 04:19 AM

yep, that's them :)

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-31-2006 04:30 AM

Okay, I'll post a new one, right? So: This gal was shot but never died.

The Might 12-31-2006 04:44 AM

Celebrian ?

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-31-2006 04:46 AM

Of course, who else :p Your turn now.

The Might 12-31-2006 04:51 AM

I was actually thinking if you said it was wrong I couldn't really think of anything else...

Remember that place where you can find nice pearls ?

Wishmaster 12-31-2006 04:56 AM

the Isle of Balar?

The Might 12-31-2006 05:24 AM

Welcome to the Downs !!!

And yes, that's correct :)

Wishmaster 12-31-2006 05:35 AM

Good..

remember that sharp thingy which also was some sort of weird flower?

The Might 12-31-2006 09:30 AM

Aeglos...nice but easy :)

Wishmaster 12-31-2006 09:47 AM

Your turn :p

The Might 12-31-2006 10:55 AM

Anyway...
Remember that guy who was the only survivor of a shipwreck?

Valier 12-31-2006 05:03 PM

Voronwe?

The Might 12-31-2006 08:46 PM

yep, that's the guy ;)

Valier 01-01-2007 04:33 PM

There was this thing, that was slain by another thing.....Who was the slain Thing?

The Might 01-01-2007 05:31 PM

thing???
I'm confused...
thing makes it sound it's not alive, but slain clearly shows the contrary

or maybe it should only show that these 2 things are identical...I really don't know what to understand from this

I dunno, maybe Deagol

Valier 01-01-2007 06:23 PM

No That is not it Might....You are kinda on the right trail that they are the same, in a way. And yes the things are alive.

The Might 01-01-2007 07:11 PM

alive...
but if they both are things it would also mean they have something in common
but since there are so many examples of Men killing Men or Elves killing Elves this can't be so easy

it made me think that "thing" might suggest they are animals...so I first thought of the Witch-king's fell beast and Snowmane

Valier 01-01-2007 08:58 PM

Now you are on the right track!! But no Snowmane is not the answer.

The Might 01-02-2007 10:06 AM

since you ask "who2 and not "what" makes me think it was definitely an individual
then I'd say Carcharoth slain by Huan

Valier 01-02-2007 10:19 AM

Soooooo close, but Carcharoth is not the "Thing" I am looking for. ;)

The Might 01-02-2007 10:22 AM

Draugluin maybe

Valier 01-02-2007 10:23 AM

That's the one!! Your thread Might.

The Might 01-02-2007 10:26 AM

you were quick with the reply...:)

well, it was a nice question...and definitely VAGUE

this thing can trap the light of the sun in it

Valier 01-02-2007 10:28 AM

The Phial of Galadriel?

The Might 01-02-2007 10:50 AM

nope, it had the light of the evening star in it

Valier 01-02-2007 10:58 AM

Anar?

The Might 01-02-2007 11:02 AM

lol...Anar is the Sun itself...
and even though theoretically the Sun does trap or contain its light I guess, the Sun doesn't qualify as a thing for me...the presence of Arien makes it more a living thing

Valier 01-02-2007 11:05 AM

The unlight of Ungoliant? It traps all light

The Might 01-02-2007 11:12 AM

no...
I guess I haven't used the right words
I wanted to use "thing" here not as a term for an unknown name, but as a synonim for object

Valier 01-02-2007 11:55 AM

Perhaps one of the Sils?

The Might 01-02-2007 12:04 PM

they had the light of the trees

Valier 01-02-2007 12:18 PM

Ah yes but the Sils would trap and refract light :p Ok this one will take awhile

Legate of Amon Lanc 01-02-2007 12:21 PM

Elessar? (I think "Elessar" and "Elendilmir" define my part in the Quiz Room later now)

The Might 01-02-2007 12:23 PM

Sorry Valier, but Legate is right
The Elessar had the light of the Sun trapped within it, and those who looked through it were said to see the withered or aged as whole and young again. It was even claimed to have some power of healing.
Now we are talking mostly about the first Elessar, the one that greater power, since the second one given to Aragorn was also made by Celebrimbor but it was not as good as the first.

Unless, of course, it was not the same Elessar - which we are not 100% sure about.

...but of coourse it was the Elessar! :D Okay, guess I'm up to post the next. So...

...remember that guy who was always left in trouble by his pals?

The Might 01-02-2007 12:47 PM

Pippin maybe...probably because of the quote from the movie

Legate of Amon Lanc 01-02-2007 12:53 PM

Nope, and to make matters clear I might add that I am using the info from the books, at least in this case.

The Might 01-02-2007 12:59 PM

well...I thought at least something in the movies might be true...:D

Bilbo...I can recall a few times the Company of Thorin left him in trouble I guess
