They settled in Lothlann sometime after the Dagor Bragollach.

The Might 09-27-2007 10:17 AM

I wanted to give chance to someone else ;) So I ignored the thread for a while. But if you insist... hmm... I can't think of anyone but the Orcs, for some time...?

Valier 09-27-2007 04:18 PM

Nice to see that my thread is still up and kicking....I do notice that the questions are welll....not vague enough..:p Here is my first post

Vague Descriptions I came up with this new game, might be a good one! Here's how it goes...You make up a question about someone, thing,or place(,LOTR related of course) being as vague as possible.who ever gets it right starts a new one.

Please start your questions with that guy/girl,that thing, that place,or something along that line so it's not too vague! I will start...

You know that Girl with the feet? The one who's name could describe cheeks? And something soft?

The answer of course is Rosie Cotton, but you see how the consept has strayed a little...If this is more desirable for people then, hey keep on truckin' just thought I'd give a heads up.:D

The Might 09-27-2007 06:39 PM

Yeah, that's true Legate, though I think I was looking for something else...actually forgot that myself

Anyway, you're right Valier, now I realise this is too much like trivia and too little like what you originally had in mind. Good thing you returned to poke us a bit. :D

btw, you might be interested to join THIS

The Might 11-18-2007 08:55 AM

Ok, time for a new new. Remember those from the book that had snake pits?

Legate of Amon Lanc 11-18-2007 11:08 AM

You mean goblins? :p

Yes, now it's starting to feel like good old times! Tremble, Quiz Room, your nemesis has come!:D

The Might 11-18-2007 12:50 PM

Yep, of course it's the goblins.

Legate of Amon Lanc 11-18-2007 01:03 PM

All right. Who were the three and two?

The Might 11-18-2007 02:08 PM

The three and two are the victims of the attack on Bree, where 3 Men and 2 Hobbits perished.

Legate of Amon Lanc 11-18-2007 04:07 PM

Of course. Could you say names, just for the sake of it? The thread is of course yours :)

No longer fitted with an earlier nickname.

Thinlómien 11-20-2007 02:54 AM

Fatty Bolger?

The Might 11-20-2007 11:18 AM

yep

Thinlómien 11-22-2007 01:17 PM

He loved his servants as his children.

Legate of Amon Lanc 11-22-2007 04:44 PM

You mean that green-skinned man with triangle-shaped neck? ;) I.e. Beorn?

Thinlómien 11-23-2007 03:32 AM

Of course I do mean him. :D

Please take the thread.

Legate of Amon Lanc 11-23-2007 04:06 AM

Remember that one who was vulnerable to disease?

Valier 11-27-2007 10:41 AM

could it be Lalaith?

Legate of Amon Lanc 11-27-2007 01:48 PM

That was the answer I thought someone may post :) But no, we are not told that she was vulnerable to disease, only that it affected her. But the important thing is about the vulnerability. Now since you ruled out this option, there are not many others left. :smokin:

Alonna 11-28-2007 06:48 PM

Is it Denethor's wife Finduilas?

Legate of Amon Lanc 11-29-2007 04:14 AM

Nope. That person did not die from that disease (or, at least, there is nothing about that in the books). :)

The Might 12-01-2007 04:13 AM

I believe you speak of Frodo Baggins, who after returning to the Shire had long periods of illness, especially around the aniversary of his stabbing on Amon Sűl. Because of this vulnerability, he was forced to sail west.

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-01-2007 05:01 AM

No, no... it was only one specific kind of disease and this person was vulnerable to it.

Thinlómien 12-03-2007 08:15 AM

I keep thinking of Bilbo Baggins and his famous flu, but that is not probably the correct answer...

Legate of Amon Lanc 12-03-2007 09:55 AM

No, though you are getting closer.

Legate of Amon Lanc 01-23-2008 04:40 PM

A hint: you won't find the disease this person was vulnerable to in any medic's handbook.

The Might 03-27-2008 01:25 PM

Maybe... another hint?

Legate of Amon Lanc 03-27-2008 01:28 PM

What about this... the fact that this person had this disease ultimately caused the person to move away from its home place.

Legate of Amon Lanc 10-05-2008 11:24 AM

Now, after half a year, no attempts were made... yet I don't belive that, at least somebody, would not see what is obvious...

The Might 11-21-2008 10:04 AM

I believe Legate wishes to ultimately win this thread by being the last suriving person to know the answer...

Legate of Amon Lanc 11-21-2008 10:36 AM

No, really not ;) Come on...

1. There was a person.
2. This person was vulnerable to a certain kind of disease.
3. This disease is a kind you won't usually find in a medic's handbook.
4. It caused this person, eventually, to move far from this person's home place.
5. That person did not die because of the disease, as far as we know.

Come on. That is quite a LOT of information. And, okay, I could add, for example:

6. We actually don't know anything about the person since it caught this disease.

The person was Legolas and the disease was sea-longing?

Legate of Amon Lanc 11-21-2008 12:21 PM

No, no, not really. The disease, if we were to take it literally, was not metaphorical.

Gollum the Great 11-21-2008 02:00 PM

Would it be Turin and the Evil Breath of Angband?

Legate of Amon Lanc 11-21-2008 02:17 PM

Nope, no way. Did you ever read he was vulnerable to it? I didn't.

Forget Angband at last. Forget ill winds. This disease did not spread by wind. It was not spread by, for example, blood contact as well. You won't get the disease if you were eating from the same plate as the person who has it. And so on.

You won't find it in a medical's handbook. Not even in a medical handbook of a medic who would work in M-E.

If I remember rightly, he got sick for awhile.

But is the real answer uhhhh, is the real answer ahhh, is the true answer....dang. I'd better delve into my deepest memories. I've only read a couple of ME books in the last two years at least and my powers of recall are rusty.

Legate of Amon Lanc 11-21-2008 03:08 PM

Keep trying then :) The main point, though, resp. the only thing that is stated explicitely in the books is, that this person was vulnerable to the disease. There is not actually explicitely stated that this person actually caught this disease. (Although it of course is plain from the narration, but if we were really picky...)

Gollum the Great 11-21-2008 03:51 PM

Just a thought: Arvedui III and some disease in the Northern Wastes?

I see Queen Beruthiel of Gondor and maybe her disease was catomisia?! She loathed cats and because of all the stuff she did with the cats and her strange way of acting she was sent far away from he home place. :D
