Oh, I completely forgot about this thread - Finrod is correct but Maedhros isn't.

Fingolfin II 03-31-2004 01:32 AM

OK, in that case would it be Feanor then? I wasn't sure which one I should put in- Maedhros or Feanor- but I chose Maedhros. Anyway my reason for Feanor is that he was known as "The Spirit of Fire" or "Fell Fire" and he was slain in the fire of the Lord of the Balrogs- Gothmog. Is that ok?

Firefoot 03-31-2004 06:07 AM

Not Fëanor either.

NightKnight 03-31-2004 09:01 AM

Aegnor?

Firefoot 03-31-2004 02:49 PM

Yes, it's Aegnor. I guess that makes it NightKnight's turn. :)

NightKnight 04-01-2004 05:37 AM

He conquered great treasure

Died childless in the woods

Fingolfin II 04-04-2004 06:18 PM

Beren and Dorlas?

NightKnight 04-10-2004 02:36 AM

The first one is correct, the second is not.

HINT: They are related.

Fingolfin II 04-11-2004 03:53 AM

Ok, could it be Beren and his grandchildren Elured and Elurin?

NightKnight 04-11-2004 04:38 AM

Correct. :)

Fingolfin II 04-11-2004 08:22 PM

Ok, here's one:

Grandson of the Crotch

I coveted the White Stone with all my heart; I am dead now, with the White Stone laid upon my heart

NightKnight 04-12-2004 02:30 AM

Gimli and Thorin?

Fingolfin II 04-12-2004 11:03 PM

Yep.

NightKnight 04-13-2004 05:52 AM

Dark one fell down

and

Death struck him from beneath

Fingolfin II 04-14-2004 05:44 AM

After puzzling about this for ages I think I came up with the answer:

Ancalagon the Black

and

Glaurung

NightKnight 04-14-2004 09:44 AM

Excellent, your turn. :)

Fingolfin II 04-15-2004 01:56 AM

Evil lust and dark seed wrought destruction.

Valiance led to rashness; rashness led to challenge; challenge led to death

NightKnight 04-15-2004 10:39 AM

Maeglin and Fingolfin?

Fingolfin II 04-15-2004 06:50 PM

Correct again :D.

NightKnight 04-16-2004 03:24 AM

I'm getting good at this. :)

Great man of many names

and

The Golden Head

Gil-Galad 04-16-2004 08:35 AM

Beren, son of Barahir and Glorfindel?

NightKnight 04-16-2004 08:40 AM

Both wrong.

Fingolfin II 04-16-2004 08:38 PM

For the first one, I'm thinking Aragorn, and the second Theoden, but they're not related, so I'll say- Thengel and Theoden?

NightKnight 04-16-2004 08:53 PM

Nope.

Evisse the Blue 04-17-2004 11:10 AM

Turin and Nienor?

The Saucepan Man 04-17-2004 05:51 PM

Turin Turambar and Hador Lorindol?

NightKnight 04-18-2004 03:48 AM

Saucepan has it. :)

The Saucepan Man 04-18-2004 05:58 PM

Cheers, NightKnight. :)

One who cared for horses

One who challenged the Black Riders

NightKnight 04-19-2004 12:37 AM

Eomer and Theoden?

The Saucepan Man 04-19-2004 03:11 AM

Nope.

Fingolfin II 04-19-2004 05:12 AM

Eomer and Eowyn?

The Saucepan Man 04-19-2004 06:26 AM

No, neither is from Rohan.

NightKnight 04-19-2004 09:31 AM

Is the second one Eärnur?

The Saucepan Man 04-19-2004 10:27 AM

No. The use of the term "Black Riders" is intended to relate them to a specific period of time.

NightKnight 04-19-2004 10:43 AM

Either Aragorn or Glorfindel, then?

The Saucepan Man 04-19-2004 10:47 AM

No, I am afraid not. :p ;)

NightKnight 04-19-2004 10:59 AM

Is the first one Bob, then? And the second... Farmer Maggot?

The Saucepan Man 04-19-2004 11:02 AM

Nearly there ...

Bob is correct, Farmer Maggot is not.

NightKnight 04-19-2004 12:56 PM

I guess Frodo did challenge them on Weathertop, when he attack WK. Is it him?

The Saucepan Man 04-19-2004 06:16 PM

Tricksy Saucepans

Nope. :p
