Family Tree Trivia

So, everyone who has read LOTR knows that there is a family tree of the Hobbits and others in the Appendices. There is also a few in The Silmarillion. I'm sure there are more in other books as well. This is a trivia to find which family member this person is. I'll start, and anyone can answer after that.

Ok. This one should be quite easy.

..:*In what relation is Arwen to Galadriel and Celeborn?*:..

Believe me, there is one. I found this out today.

Pallando B.C 12-03-2002 03:46 AM

Galadriel and Celeborn had a daughter named Celebrian. She married Elrond and they had Arwen. So Galadriel is Arwen's grandmother.

Right. Sorry it took me so long to reply. Your turn.

Pallando B.C 12-04-2002 07:01 PM

Tower of Moon and Shadow 12-06-2002 07:47 PM

Pallando B.C 12-06-2002 07:54 PM

Correct, you may proceed.

Tower of Moon and Shadow 12-06-2002 08:04 PM

I think they are linked when Marigold married Tolman Cotton. Holman is Tolman's father, so Marigold is Holman's daughter-in-law.

Tower of Moon and Shadow 12-06-2002 08:29 PM

That would be correct

Pallando B.C 12-06-2002 08:32 PM

What relation is Turin to Tuor?

Tower of Moon and Shadow 12-06-2002 08:48 PM

its his its his mothers, fathers, brothers daughters, son

Eruwen 12-07-2002 10:06 AM

Would all of that mean it would be his 3rd cousin? I'm just trying to figure all of that out. Whoa...

Pallando B.C 12-07-2002 06:20 PM

You have to be more specific, Tower of Moon and Shadow. Think of their father's and it is really not that complicated.

Tower of Moon and Shadow 12-07-2002 10:26 PM

I belive that makes them third cousins

Pallando B.C 12-07-2002 11:20 PM

Sorry, incorrect.

the real findorfin 12-09-2002 09:55 AM

Hurin and Huor are brothers.

Turin his Hurin's son, Tuor is Huor's son.

This makes them 1st Cousins!

Pallando B.C 12-09-2002 04:19 PM

Good Job, the real findorfin.

It was pretty easy wasn't it.

the real findorfin 12-09-2002 05:14 PM

yeh, quite easy (but only if you know!)

Name Elendil's father and grand-father.

Tower of Moon and Shadow 12-09-2002 05:54 PM

Amindal is his father.Vardamir is his grand father

the real findorfin 12-09-2002 05:59 PM

Yes I suppose, but wrong Elendil. I was referring to the Lord of Andunie that escaped the Sinking of Numenor, not the King of Numenor many centuries before.

sorry for the confusion!

Pallando B.C 12-14-2002 10:56 PM

Tower of Moon and Shadow seems to be on a holiday, so I will continue, since this topic is good!

Which marriage connected the Houses of Olwë and Elwë?

the real findorfin 12-15-2002 06:54 AM

Elrond and Celebrian?

Elrond was Elwe's great, great grandson and Celebrian was Olwe's great grandaughter.

By the way, no one has correctly answered my question, Who were Elendil's (as in isildur's father) Father and Grandfather?

Pallando B.C 12-15-2002 06:30 PM

You are correct.

Also, the answer to your question is ( I think):

Vardamir
I
Amandil
I
Elendil

Pallando B.C 12-19-2002 04:27 PM

It's your go, the real findorfin

the real findorfin 12-19-2002 04:50 PM

Thats still not right!

Amandil is correct but Vardamir was not his father, who was????

Pallando B.C 12-19-2002 09:08 PM

Someone from the Lords of Andúnië?

Maybe Arendell?

[ December 19, 2002: Message edited by: Pallando B.C ]

the real findorfin 12-20-2002 10:01 AM

Yes, a Lord of Andunie (they all were!). If nobody gets it before tomorrow I'll tell you!

Pallando B.C 12-20-2002 04:53 PM

Gee, I feel dumb.

But I can't remember reading it, and it's not recorded anywhere in my books.

Ok, last guess....Valandil

the real findorfin 12-21-2002 02:28 AM

Nope, heres the answer, but I don't know where I got it from! I did family trees of all he major lines a while back but have forgotten the source.

NUMENDIL
|
AMANDIL
|
ELENDIL

Good guesses though! I suppose Pallando it is your turn!
(gloats...nobody got my question, heehee)

Pallando B.C 12-25-2002 04:10 AM

Good job, It's hard to trick people here.

Ok, If I was Gimli, who who be my Great Uncle's Grandfather?

the real findorfin 12-25-2002 03:37 PM

Oh damn, I'm only good at elvish and mannish family trees, darn!

I guess I'll have to leave it.

Beren87 12-25-2002 04:25 PM

Would it be Borin?

Pallando B.C 12-25-2002 09:36 PM

Yes, well done!

Beren87 12-25-2002 10:03 PM

Thank ye!

Who was the mother of Saradoc Brandybuck?

Thengise Greenleaf of Mirkwood 12-25-2002 10:12 PM

Would the mother be Menegilda Goold?

Beren87 12-25-2002 11:47 PM

Well...Menegilda Brandybuck, because she married before having the children I assume, but yes.

Thengise Greenleaf of Mirkwood 12-25-2002 11:58 PM

Oops sorry, but thanks for giving it to me.

Who's the grandmother of Lotho Sackville-Baggins on his father's side?

Pallando B.C 12-26-2002 02:36 AM

Longo?

Thengise Greenleaf of Mirkwood 12-27-2002 12:49 AM

Close! Though that would be his grandfather not his grandmother.

Beren87 12-27-2002 01:07 AM

Would it be Camellia Sackville?
