Find the Subject

I've looked, and it seems that there are no other threads like this, so let's go!

The object of this game is to find the subject of the quote. You would have to give the book that the quote is from.

Here is an example:
"And I'm not used, _____ ______, to waiting on people while they eat!"
This quote is from Return of the King, and the answer is "Master Beregond". You see? It doesn't necessarily have to be spoken, but try not to get too obscure or that makes it less fun. Or is it more fun? I'm not sure. Well, here's one to start off:

Quote:

Five miles beyond ______ they halted, ending their first day's march.
This is from Return of the King.

Firefoot 03-12-2004 05:59 PM

Okay, sounds interesting. Are you supposed to say which book it is from? Or is that optional?

Osgiliath?

Mad Baggins 03-12-2004 06:08 PM

Firefoot, you're right, and yes you do have to give the book that it is from. Your go.

Firefoot 03-12-2004 06:27 PM

Okay. This is from FotR.

Yellow Face.

luthien-elvenprincess 03-13-2004 12:46 PM

You are right, Firefoot

Firefoot 03-13-2004 06:47 PM

Thanks! This one is from FotR.

Firefoot 03-16-2004 06:30 PM

No.

Hint - It is in part 2.

Firefoot 03-20-2004 05:56 PM

Anyone? Do you need another hint?

Mad Baggins 03-22-2004 09:02 PM

Um...yes?

Firefoot 03-23-2004 03:06 PM

I didn't think this would be as hard as it is - an Elf other than Legolas said it.

Mad Baggins 03-23-2004 04:34 PM

Humm...trees? Towers?

Firefoot 03-23-2004 05:51 PM

No. Alright, one more hint. It was in Lothlorien.

Iaurhirwen 03-23-2004 06:08 PM

Yea!!!!

Quote:

The rivers long defended us, but they are a sure guard no more;
Spoken by Haldir outside of Lothlorien, in conjunction with his remarks on how little trust there is among those who oppose Sauron, and how is power is steadily growing, and the protection that was offered by the rivers for so many years, is now gone.

Firefoot 03-23-2004 07:08 PM

We have a winner!

Bingo!!! I never know what is going to be hard with you people and what will be easy.

Iaurhirwen 03-28-2004 09:47 AM

I'm Back!

Ok. After I remember this thread now.

Hmmmm, a question:

Your instincts have not led you astray. ;)

Evisse the Blue 04-09-2004 02:56 PM

"We have been warned against ______"

Iaurhirwen 04-10-2004 06:34 AM

I see that the last two "questioners" have forgotten to list which book their quote came from, as listed in the original rules . . . . . anywho, I'll just give a random quess anyway . . . . . . . . The River

Not a very good guess, I know. But it's 8:30 in the morning here on a Saturday and I'm supposed to be in bed. Mean parents for luring me out of bed with food.

Evisse the Blue 04-10-2004 08:41 AM

Sorry!

It's from The Two Towers. And no, it's not the river.

Mad Baggins 04-12-2004 06:35 PM

Travelers?
