What would you name your sword

You know the swords in Middle Earth normaly have names. Well, what would you name your sword? I was thinking of 'Slice & Dice'.

Maltagaerion 01-31-2002 07:20 PM

Nevtelluma

Lindolirian 01-31-2002 07:52 PM

Gaurcrist the were-wolf cleaver.

Frahhamn 01-31-2002 08:02 PM

Bob the Idiot-chopper.

Kuruharan 01-31-2002 09:43 PM

LOL!! As hard as I try I just can't top Bob the Idiot Chopper!

Elrian 01-31-2002 10:21 PM

Sounds like a winner to me too! I'm tempted to go out a buy a sword just so I can name it that.

Rosa Underhill 01-31-2002 10:58 PM

Hee hee... Bob... I approve! *applaudes*

Hmmm... Paperweight the Unused. (Seriously, what would I do with a sword? I named my white cane "Excalibur" once, though; that was before I got my dog.)

The Mirrorball Man 02-01-2002 09:42 AM

I would name it "Kleptomonkey".

JaellBrandybuck 02-01-2002 09:53 AM

Bob the Idiot Chopper. That name rocks.

I would probably name my sword... um... Cheese. Yeah, Cheese.

Niphredil Baggins 02-01-2002 09:57 AM

Wow for Bob! I'd name mine That Bloody Thing.
Thing for short, rhymes with Sting.

Eldar14 02-01-2002 10:25 AM

The Fish. Just "The Fish." Either that or Rûdhnaur, which I get when I type "Really Big Sword That Goes Boom!!" into the elven name generator.

Jjudvven 02-01-2002 12:44 PM

I'd problably be completely uncreative and name it something like 'Glamdring', 'Sting',
'Narsil' or something like that.

Bruce MacCulloch 02-01-2002 01:14 PM

Mine is named "Agnes".

Frahhamn 02-01-2002 02:17 PM

ALLRRRRRIGHT!!! I'm a hit on my first post!!!

HUZZAH!

actually, i was here when the barrow-downs forum was first made... but i was busy and haven't come back till now. and by this time, i'd forgotten my old account... so anyway... glad you liked my sword name!

Enkanowen 02-01-2002 02:43 PM

I think I would call my sword Althea, meaning pure.
Or Enkanowen's Blade of Pain. I don't know which one's better

Buffy 02-01-2002 05:50 PM

Mister Pointy.

Frahhamn 02-01-2002 06:56 PM

Bob the Idiot-Chopper, that was pretty dang funny... not much can beat that, Frahhamn.

Rose Cotton 02-01-2002 09:33 PM

Bob the Idiot-chopper definatly outstrips Slice and Dice(which really wasn't good at all) But in my opinion all these names are great. I'm getting tons of laughs. Keep the names coming.

Samwise 02-01-2002 09:59 PM

Hm. Ages ago I had an elf-like character whose sword was named 'To Sanctify Justice' I gave it a name that was it some made up language which was supposed to mean the above. Out of curiosity I put To Sanctify Justice in the name generator (Elf) and came out with:

Morhuanion.

Guess I'd name my sword that.

Sam Gamgee

Rosa Underhill 02-01-2002 11:12 PM

Paperweight the Unused is Bragolré in Elvish and, if it were a hobbit, my sword would be Saradoc Brown of Woody End!

Heh... I got mah bad, bad Saradoc Brown!

Maltagaerion 02-02-2002 12:53 AM

Maltagaerion 02-02-2002 12:56 AM

By the way...Nevtelluma was what I got when I put 'Orc Cleaver' in the Elvish name generator.

Fenrir 02-02-2002 07:09 AM

Fluffy or Flossy. If I had a sword and a matching dagger that's what I'd call them.

Seriously? Angruin

Jjudvven 02-02-2002 12:12 PM

Fluffy? Flossy? That is weird...

Frahhamn 02-02-2002 12:22 PM

consider the source.

Perethil 02-02-2002 02:37 PM

id name it Mr Pink
(see reservoir dogs)

Mayla Took 02-02-2002 03:55 PM

Hummm....I did like the "Bob-" suggestion! Lol! How about..."Pointie" or "Staby"! Or maybe "The Shinny Silver Slicer"??

Frahhamn 02-02-2002 04:26 PM

haw haw!!

hey guys! visit my board. i need members... and posts...

Lostgaeriel 02-02-2002 04:45 PM

Well, for my work in the garment trade, I'm going to need 3 swords:

Alagdeloth: Paper Scissors (for pattern-making when the CAD system crashes)
Bragolmereth: Fabric Cleaver
Sirithlithion: Pinking Shears (used only for fabric swatches on story boards!)

They sound so elegant in Elvish.

Those are pretty good. But Bob the Idiot-Chopper was probably the best.

Samwise 02-02-2002 05:25 PM

Now I need a name.

Maltagaerion 02-02-2002 10:40 PM

Well, I see you went and bought a 'Sting' replica. I've seen those in person, very nice!

So, what WILL you name it?

Rosa Underhill 02-02-2002 10:59 PM

*whistles* Wow, bet that took some saving up for...

Heh, you could call it...Tim? (Monty Python reference.)

Arfalasion would be its name. Figure it out on your own.

Ara'rial 02-03-2002 10:25 PM

Nice sword...hum...Bob is the best. Heh, I should name my pocket knife that...well I did make up a name for a sword once...it was really stupid. Gil-Celeb. Well..it sounded nice when you looked at the meaning but I'm not sure if I got the name right.

Phil The Balrog 02-03-2002 11:53 PM

Belegthôlion meaning "Justice and Mercy"

or something more menacing like

Galenchilion meaning "Devil's Bane"
Nilmerethion meaning "Demon Fang"
Ringgaerion meaning "Righteous Anger"
Neftalion meaning "Dragon Tooth"

or something really hardcore like

Eglanedlorion which is "I kill bad guys and always get the girl"

Guess I could just name it Little Phil.

Androndo the Thoughtfull 02-04-2002 04:01 AM

I would call it something like "decapitor" ...
