Gil-Galad 08-19-2004 07:59 PM

I'll probaly be there too.. but my head will be an old electric piano, and when i get mad, i play a demo

has brought good times...but i must move along now

Gil-Galad 08-19-2004 08:21 PM

indeed....

i might remove my current quote and replace it with a more Trogdor-related quote...

The Perky Ent 08-20-2004 08:49 PM

Now it is time that my quote must take the voyage beyond the forum. Rest in peace
Quote:

Later! Yes, when you also have the Keys of Barad-dûr itself, I suppose; and the crowns of seven kings, and the rods of the Five Wizards, and have purchased yourself a pair of boots many sizes than those that you wear now.
Namarie

Imladris 08-21-2004 12:47 PM

I lay my siggy here to rest:

Quote:

Humans have a knack for choosing precisely the things that are worst for them.
I don't remember when I last changed it, but I like my new one too....besides...we haunt a graveyard -- 'tis healthy to have frequent dyings....

On a side note, I love your siggy Perky. Classic

The Perky Ent 08-22-2004 06:45 PM

Thank you! I'm thinking of changing it to a quote, but if my current one catches on...

Nuranar 08-23-2004 09:14 AM

Farewell to Brave Britomart

I here immortalize - or preserve until this forum falls to dust - the memory of Britomart, Spenser's original shieldmaiden, and the knight of the Red Cross.

Quote:

. . . about her swayd / Her wrathfull steele, that none mote it abyide; / And eke the Redcrosse knight gave her good ayd, / Ay ioyning foot to foot, and syde to syde; / That in short space their foes they have quite terrifyde. ~The Faerie Queene
Now for something more in line with my avatar - Jane Austen!

Gil-Galad 08-24-2004 12:24 PM

Alas! my short-lived quote has fallen, may he ride a steady wind to where his ancestors await it!

"The dead make good soldiers. They can't disobey orders, they never surrender, and they don't stop fighting when a random body part falls off"

Mariska Greenleaf 09-01-2004 05:02 AM

Well, I thought it would be a good idea to change my quote, as it was too political according to Downs policies. :o
The new one is from Confucius, and I like it very much.

Eomer of the Rohirrim 09-01-2004 09:03 AM

I remembered an old sig I used to have that I think deserves a place in here. It's a line I had for some time probably about a year ago and I think it deserves a proper burial.

The buzz of love is busy buggin' you...

It's from a song called Buggin' by The Flaming Lips, a truly wonderful band, and it is on their album The Soft Bulletin. I enjoy the quote because I think it is very happy, positive and carefree.

The Perky Ent 09-01-2004 04:35 PM

Goodbye sig. I've moved on. Go...and be at peace

It's a sad day when you need scissors to open scissors! And what if you're buying them for the first time?

Gil-Galad 09-01-2004 04:36 PM

Indeed...though i don't quite understand your new one...

The Perky Ent 09-01-2004 04:38 PM

Then you obviously don't know classic movies :D

Gil-Galad 09-01-2004 04:40 PM

It seems like i saw that some where... but to me it probaly won't make alot of sense to alot of people...

Sirithheruwen 09-02-2004 08:46 AM

Farewell! I might come back for you, but then again, I might not.

And it is indeed a good film - Gil-Galad, the quote, if I'm not mistaken, is from 'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure' (is that the exact title? I'm never quite sure...), which remains an incredibly classy film, and was, like, a cult in the early 1990s. You know 'Dude Where's My Car?' ? Yeah, that's shameless plagiarism from Bill and Ted, and it's proud to be so. You know the turtles from 'Finding Nemo'? Once again, inspired by Bill and Ted. Legend, and glad to see it has a place on the Downs, Perky! I believe another fan is Imladris - a phrase including 'most excellent' was in her sig for a while, I believe...

And now watch me be completely wrong and it be a completely different film...

One of the sigs I recently noticed was The Only Real Estel's - a few rather cutting remarks about M. Night Shyamalan's newest thriller, 'The Village'!

Imladris 09-02-2004 03:38 PM

Oh yes, I am definitely a fan. I used to have, "Be Excellent to each other and party on Dudes" in my sig for months...it broke the record of the longest sig (at least for me)

That info about Bill and Ted -- I never knew that! Finding Nemo -- now that I should have recognized...

The Perky Ent 09-02-2004 05:46 PM

Don't you mean party on dudes?

Gil-Galad 09-03-2004 08:13 PM

this might not go here but its in my sig...i had to sacrifice my peasants wuest link to fit in my new page of my crazy life... enjoy it please! i need feedback! (email me with SITE RATINGS as title)

Oh, picky, picky, picky...;) :p

And Imladris, your new (or maybe I've simply been unobservant) sig is cool - a good quote, a good quote indeed...

Firefoot 09-08-2004 04:17 PM

I now bid my long-time sig farewell.

Quote:

Flappity-flappity flap! Cheep, cheep! Ach, poor wee me, cheepitty-cheep!
As the above dealt with cats, let the new one deal with cats too :)

Pussу cat, Pussу cat, where have you been?
"I've been to London to visit the Queen"
Pussу cat, Pussу cat, What did you there?
"I frightened a little mouse under her chair!"

"Tread softly because you tread on my dreams" (WB Yeats - 'He wishes for the cloths of heaven"

Evisse the Blue 09-10-2004 04:44 AM

Rest in piece my beloved siggy, whom most of you found amusing, and I'm really glad of that, but alas, all things must pass, and I was getting bored of it. :p It's lived its time:

The time has come, the Downers said, to talk of many things,
Of Hobbits, Elves and Oliphaunts, of Palantirs and Rings,
Whether the orcs are truly evil and if Balrogs have wings.

Fingolfin II 09-10-2004 05:47 AM

It's time for me to put down my long-serving faithful sig-

And from the blade rang a cold voice in answer: 'Yea, I will drink thy blood gladly, that I may forget the blood of Beleg my master, and the blood of Brandir slain unjustly. I will slay thee swiftly.'

I just noticed that I omitted the word "so" from the quote all this time. I know what you're saying- 'So?'.

The Perky Ent 09-10-2004 03:10 PM

And thus, a great sig must take it's last journey of this world:

"Bill?"
"Yeah Ted?"
"Strange things are afoot at the Circle K"

Go now, and be at peace...

Pyroclastic 09-10-2004 09:06 PM

Farewell, thy true and potent words! Seldom has one sentence so aptly described my essence; and for that I thank thee, thou wonderous signature:

"Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost, But I Sure Am!"

~Pyro~

The Perky Ent 09-11-2004 10:12 AM

That's a good one :D I like that better than the 'If you can't beat em...', but your new one is still very funny :)

Imladris 09-11-2004 06:47 PM

Rest in peace, faithful sig:

Do you know what's horrible about this thread? It makes you want to change your sig every day just so that you can post here!

~Pyro~

Mithalwen 09-12-2004 12:26 PM

How could I have forgotten my first sig "Carpe jugulum" (go for the throat) , not entirely unrelated to Terry Pratchett, and which some people read too much into :p

HerenIstarion 09-15-2004 06:49 AM

Pussу cat, Pussу cat, where have you been?

RIP

it lasted less than a week, but now, as Dr Alban of dubious (or blessed) memory sang once, 'I'm going back to my roots" :)

...me ain't fooling around, ain't touching nobody, just repairing the primus stove...

will be the new one, and it is a old one at the same time - put to rest by yours truly back in March 2003. And it deals with cats (up to a point) too

cheers

"Was it I who spoke? Was I not also a listener?" The Prophet

Still like this but feel that the forum is a bit short of cats at the moment :)

HerenIstarion 09-22-2004 04:32 AM

I feel I'm mentally unstable of late, as compared to what a solid rock I once was. Maybe I'm overworked. Not being rich and lazy gnaws at my mind too. Por favor, seňor, donate me a million, would you? (Euros or US Dollars would be accepted). Nevertheless, all this whimpering concerns overly quick change of current signature:

Quote:

...me ain't fooling around, ain't touching nobody, just repairing the primus stove...
To be replaced with an advertisement. Society in the age of capital accumulation...

Evisse the Blue 09-22-2004 06:51 AM

Ha ha, HI! That's three in a week is it? Signatures, that is. Maybe it's the autumn restlessness that's getting to you like it got to Bilbo and Frodo, eh? But this still doesn't excuse the shameless advertising of your thread... hahaha:D

Ok, the same instability makes me change my sig too. This one is just too damn depressing, isn't it? So rest in peace (how fitting), vision of Carl Sandburg:

Quote:

Death is a nurse mother with big arms: 'Twon't hurt
you at all; it's your time now; just need a
long sleep, child; what have you had anyhow
better than sleep?

Not to stray, though:

Your preceding - the one you parted company with in the post immediately above, - was very poetic, but depressive a bit :) Legends of the fall, you're right in that too. Stability? - nah, I'm off home to my Complete Published Works by Poe. Reread the Raven, scare myself with shades and candlelight and whimper silently in the gloom afterwards...

Hi,

Your statistics are fun! Have you tried counting how many sigs per person are posted here?

My random non-LotR quote thing has 29 signatures alone! Add to that the other offsprings of my fickleness, and that should propel me to the top! THE TOP!!!

My adoration for your penchant for numbers is like chastity for the Romans - adored, but rarely emulated. Alas, for having flunked Calculus, I lost all love for Math! Failing does that to me. :(

Anywhen I have new old sigs to post. Dosvidania, my siggies!

Quote:

Here Digitopolis we have our meals when we're full and eat until we're hungry. That way, when you don't have anything at all, you have more than enough.
I haven't read The Phantom Tollbooth (yet), but a book in Math I possess happens to have a part of it, Milo in Digitopolis.

Quote:

Where do they get the courage . . . to fight against Death himself, knowing that they must ultimately lose. Such [is] the nature of the medical profession.
This is from Clear and Present Danger by Tom Clancy. I have discovered some more sig-material quotes from him (not involving the Cold War, the CIA, or nuclear weapons, mind you!) Maybe I'll use it sometime after I run out of multiple-choice questions, but I get too ahead of myself.

And now, I have created (three, so far) multiple-choice questions that shall become my signature until my home page is finished, and I return to imitating HI's sig (albeit with my name).

I'll post them here once I complete all three. Until then, fare thee well, until they bring back down the fare rates! Thank you, and good day!
