Raynor 02-06-2006 12:34 PM

Bilbo to himself:
"I have heard songs of many battles, and I have always understood that defeat may be glorious. It seems very uncomfortable not to say distressing. I wish I was well out of it.

Guinevere 02-07-2006 02:43 PM

exactly!

Well done, Raynor! :) please proceed.

Iluvatar speaking to Ulmo

Evisse the Blue 10-22-2006 02:12 AM

I think you can go ahead with a new one, Guinevere :)

Raynor 10-22-2006 02:49 AM

Sheesh! I can't believe I forgot about this thread :o. You are correct, please go ahead.

Guinevere 10-22-2006 02:51 AM

OK :) I wasn't sure if anyone would still be interested in this game... :(

Curufin to Eol.

I'm pretty sure I got it right, so I'll post the next one:

Galadriel55 01-16-2011 09:58 AM

'We shall break a good many things yet and not ask you to answer!' said Pippin. 'Good day to you!'
Pippin, in The Scouring of the Shire.

Evisse the Blue 01-16-2011 12:18 PM

Yep.

Except it's 'Good luck to you'. :D

Galadriel55 01-16-2011 07:26 PM

Sorry about the luck-day: I was doing that from memory.:o

"Here's a ____ hobbit __ to ___ an elven ____ in! If it were known that ____ had such ____, all the _____ of _____ ______ would be _____ to the ____!"

Guinevere 02-20-2011 11:02 AM

" Here's a pretty hobbit-skin to wrap an elven-princeling in! If it were known that hobbits had such hides, all the hunters of Middle-earth would be riding to the Shire!"

Aragorn, discovering Frodo's Mithril coat after their escape from Moria.

Evisse the Blue 03-14-2011 01:31 AM

That's right!

Very sorry for the delay.

Guinevere 04-13-2011 01:37 PM

Oops, I had quite forgotten that it is my turn here.:o

If anyone is still interested, here goes:

" Don't ____!" said the _______. "You need not be _____ like a ____, even if you ___ rather like ___. It is a ___ _____ with little _____. What is ____ than ____ ?"

Galadriel55 05-07-2011 06:07 PM

"Don't pinch!" said his eagle. "You need not be frightened like a rabbit, even though you look rather like one. It is a fair morning with little wind. What is finer than fying?"

Eagle to Bilbo in TH

Guinevere 05-14-2011 10:31 AM

Exactly!

Sorry for replying so late!

Galadriel55 05-16-2011 04:07 PM

"There's only one ________ in ________, and that's _______."

Gonna be pretty easy, methinks. ;)

LadyBrooke 06-08-2011 10:20 PM

There's only one dragon in Bywater, and that's green.

Ted Sandyman to Sam in FotR

Galadriel55 06-09-2011 07:01 AM

Yup! Your turn.

LadyBrooke 06-09-2011 10:12 AM

"Nay, we all _____ together as _____ _____, and will ____ be parted"

LadyBrooke 06-23-2011 08:28 PM

"Nay, we all run together as one man, and will not be parted

Turin, to the Men of Brethil, UT, though I suppose it is likely also in CoH.

Galadriel55 06-23-2011 08:42 PM

That's the line! (I laughed when I first read this passage, I like it :D)

It's in COH. I haven't read UT yet.

LadyBrooke 06-23-2011 09:19 PM

Exact opposite for me - I've read (and liked) UT, but haven't read CoH, and really am not too eunthustic about it. I don't really like Turin you see....

I almost _____ that I _____ you ____, but do not let ____ be _____.

Galadriel55 06-23-2011 09:24 PM

Do let's be hasty! :)

"I almost feel that I dislike you both, but do not let us be hasty!" ~Treebeard, upon meeting Merry and Pippin.

I love COH. Just as much as LOTR and The Sil. (TH is neat, but it's just not the same. I like it just a tinge less). I heard UT is a treat, so I can't wait to read it!

Quote:

I don't really like Turin you see....
Hehe, on my first reading of The Sil I got so annoyed with all this being-cursed business in the Turin Turambar chapter that I didn't read COH until I reread LOTR and TH. But then I read it, and I loved it...

LadyBrooke 06-23-2011 09:31 PM

Correct!...I had the feeling that would be a fast one. I was too lazy to actually look something up...so grabbed and used the page topper. :p

I like UT because of the Celeborn information contained within...and I'll admit, reading TH, I normally read the Rivendell, Mirkwood, and battle sections, skipping anything without elves.

Galadriel55 06-23-2011 09:52 PM

This is one of my favourite passages too, althogh that hardly means anything considering how many favourites I have...

"Dear-_____ those _____ shall be _____, and yet shall be well-_____. For the _____ could be ______ other."

Guinevere 01-22-2012 04:49 PM

very late answer

"Dear-bought those songs shall be accounted, and yet shall be well-bought. For the price could be no other."

Manwë, on hearing Fëanor's answer to his heralds.

Galadriel55 01-22-2012 05:14 PM

But late is better than never! ;) Please procede!

Guinevere 01-26-2012 02:51 PM

thanks!:)

"___?" said _____, when he ______. "Why did you ___ that? Worse than _____ your _____ could have ____! You have ____ your _____ in it. Or should I _____ your _____?"

Evisse the Blue 03-20-2012 07:36 AM

"Well?" said Strider when he appeared. 'Why did you do that? Worse than anything your friends could have said! You have put your foot in it. Or should I say your finger?'

Guinevere 03-20-2012 11:42 AM

That's it! Nice to see you here again, Evisse! :)

Evisse the Blue 03-28-2012 02:06 AM

Thanks! :)

This place is so unchanged ;)

New one:

"We will ____ and may the ______ find ____ ____ _____. ____ will _____ after them. ___ ____ suppose we'll ____ _____ _____ again."
