The Lord of the Rings

The quote is: Are you frightened; (response)
Not nearly frightened enough

Try to figure it out

Daniel Telcontar 05-11-2002 04:00 PM

The answer is Aragorn, just after he pulls Frodo up the stairs and into Frodo's room at the Prancing Pony

Merry 05-17-2002 06:50 AM

It's been a while since someone made a post. What about

Why do you recoil I am no thief.

The_Elf_Girl 05-17-2002 05:05 PM

That is Boromir to Frodo at Amon Hen.

Ithaeliel 05-17-2002 08:03 PM

I gave you the chance to aid me willingly, but you have chosen the way of pain!

Daniel Telcontar 05-18-2002 08:14 AM

Saruman to Gandalf who refuses to help Saruman with his evil plans.

What about: I was there the day that the strength of Men failed.

Veritas 05-18-2002 10:00 AM

Elrond, I thought at the counsil.

"Who are you, that come hither as a thief, and unbidden dare to aproach my throne?"

Daniel Telcontar 05-18-2002 12:45 PM

Theoden, it would presume, when Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli comes to Edoras.

Melephelwen 05-21-2002 11:48 AM

Seems like noone's posted a while, so here I go!

Onen i-Estel Edain, ú-chebin estel anim

(I gave Hope to the Dúnedain, I have kept no hope for myself)

Daniel Telcontar 05-21-2002 11:57 AM

It is Gilraen the mother of Aragorn, who dies (fairly) young. An easy one:

A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins, nor is he early. He arrives precisely whern he means to.

Melephelwen 05-22-2002 07:15 AM

Gandalf, at the start of FotR.

Another easy one:
'Gwaihir, go Gwaihir!'

Melephelwen 05-29-2002 10:28 AM

Okay, maybe it weren't THAT easy... I'll give a hint Look at the small sign...

Gimli Son Of Gloin 05-29-2002 04:52 PM

Isn't that Gandalf when he's riding Gwalhir to Mordor to save Sam and Frodo after they toss the ring into the big flaming mountain?

Melephelwen 05-30-2002 11:35 AM

Yes, it is Gandalf, but it is when he sits on top of Orthanc, and catches some little bug, and tells it to get Gwaihir! So, almost right!

Gimli Son Of Gloin 06-01-2002 10:59 AM

So do I get to post a quote. If I do here goes, if I don't sorry.
Quote:

Hill?Shelf?Step?

Daniel Telcontar 06-01-2002 11:01 AM

Merry, guessing at what word Treebeard is looking for.

Legolas 10-01-2002 04:59 PM

Actually, it is misquoted and has two speakers.

Quote:

'Hill?' suggested Pippin. 'Shelf? Step?' suggested Merry.

Fallen King of Angmar 10-01-2002 06:37 PM

Quote:

I have the ears of a fox, and the eyes of an eagle.
... might not be "exactly" direct but its close.... who said it?

merlilot 10-01-2002 07:20 PM

Gimli said:
Quote:

I have the eyes of a hawk and the ears of a fox.
Close enough was your quote.
Confirmation, please, even though I know I am right.

merlilot 10-01-2002 07:22 PM

Oh, heres the answer to one that was skipped:

Thingol said:
Quote:

Who are you, that come hither as a thief, and unbidden dare to aproach my throne?

Legolas 10-08-2002 08:55 AM

Fallen King of Angmar seemed to think he could skip me again ?

Quote:

Don’t let us go too far!

merlilot 10-08-2002 03:26 PM

Um...I think it is my turn...but you can go I suppose.

Legolas 10-08-2002 03:54 PM

I got the previous question right and Fallen Angmar decided to post a quote out of turn. It was my turn then, before you got his out-of-turn quote right.

Precioussss 10-20-2002 01:04 PM

hello!

Legolas 10-21-2002 10:17 AM

Again...the quote in question:

Quote:

Don’t let us go too far!

gralin musicteeth 10-21-2002 02:20 PM

One of the hobbits?

Laivine 10-22-2002 09:27 AM

You'll post a clue?

Beren87 10-23-2002 06:46 PM

It was Frodo, to the hobbits (mostly to Pippin) about seeing if it was the black rider.

Wow, that one was hard to find.

Legolas 10-24-2002 08:44 AM

Yes, Beren87.

gralin musicteeth 10-29-2002 07:24 PM

go, Beren87, if you wish

gralin musicteeth 11-01-2002 12:55 PM

is someone gonna post??

Precioussss 11-07-2002 01:39 PM

I think you can go, gralin, and if Beren87 shows up we can disregard yours.

gralin musicteeth 11-07-2002 07:13 PM

I have not a quote at the present. someone else may go.

Arwen1858 11-07-2002 11:46 PM

ok, I'm gonna jump in here!!
Quote:

Say not unscathed, but if you say unchanged, then maybe you will speak the truth.
Who said it to whom, when, where, and why?

Eärendil 11-08-2002 03:51 AM

Er...Aragorn? To Éomer, when Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli were hunting the orcs that had captured Merry and Pippin, in Rohan (fields), and because of what Éomer said when he heard they had travelled through Lothlórien.
It´s probably wrong, now when I posted such a long guess...

Arwen1858 11-08-2002 04:15 PM

It is Aragron, but not to Eomer, and not at that place.

Azaelia of Willowbottom 11-08-2002 07:03 PM

Aragorn to Gimli, when Gimli finds out where they're going (Lothlorien) and Gimli says something like none have come out unschathed (Spelling is wrong, I know)

(Hope it's ok for me to join in!)

Wasn't it Aragorn talking to Boromir about Lothlorien?

Eärendil 11-10-2002 02:51 PM

Ah yes! It was Aragorn to Boromir, how could I forget?! Stupid me...

Arwen1858 11-10-2002 11:18 PM

Ah, yes, it was Aragorn to Boromir. For some reason, after I posted the quote, my poor little brain got all muddled and confused, and believed he said it to Gimli. But it was to Boromir. Anyone else care to post a quote now?
Arwen
