Cats of Queen Berutheil

The only mention I can find of Queen Berutheil and her cats is a quote from the chapter entitled "A Journey in the Dark" in book two. Aragorn, speaking of Gandalf, says,
"He is surer of finding the way home
in a blind night than the cats of
Queen Beruthiel."

Who is Queen Beruthiel, and especially what information does anyone have about her cats?

I ask this question because I adore cats! I have 4 and I named one Frodo.
Thanks for indulging me in my feline fetish.

This question gets asked a lot. There are answers in several threads, but they seem to have disappeared in the forum move. If you want the full quotation from Unfinished Tales, though, look here.

If you'd like to read more about what Berúthiel and her cats *might* have experienced, you can check out the RPG written by several forum members: A House Divided. (Unfortunately, the story was not finished, but it's enjoyable reading!)

Thank you Squatter and Estelyn. I see that I should have done a search instead of just asking...I have already spanked myself for my misdeed.

No self-punishment necessary, luthien - those other threads are on the Books forum, and I'm sure newcomers who read about Berúthiel are interested in the answer as well.

In fact I was curious myself before I got hold of Unfinished Tales. Now for some shameless self-promotion: there's another thread in Books that decries Tolkien's blatant anti-felinism. Enjoy.

Anti-felinism indeed! I have only read the links you provided and I am shocked that such an imaginative man as Tolkien failed to see the merits of cats!!! How strange for such a glaring flaw to exist in an otherwise intelligent and extraordinary man!
