It is fun to ask Quotes from any part of the book, which most of the time only a few can answer, but it seems a little hard for me. So as long as it will be hard, why not make it a really nice Quote that you will remember. That is what I want in this thread.. Things like:

&quot;Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them?&quot;

But I wont ask that because I want this to be hard. I have read LOTR 3 times through, and just on this third time I found this Quote and have remembered it ever since. So who said this:

&quot;One who can not cast a treasure away at need is in fetters.&quot;

Very nice. Your turn.

P.S.: Does Tolkien use exclamation points for all commands in the books? I have taken some German classes and they do the same thing.

Seeing as I just read that Chapter yesterday, It was Merry in the Houses of Healing. <img src=smile.gif ALT=":)">

Who said this:<blockquote>Quote:<hr> &quot;&quot;You have proved mightiest, and all your labours have gone well.&quot;<hr></blockquote>

Re: Memorable Quotes

I am definitely much better at this than I use to be..

Who said this and where:

<blockquote>Quote:<hr> &quot;The Third Age was my age. I was the enemy of Sauron; and my work is finished. I shall go soon. The burden must now lie on you and your kindred.&quot;<hr></blockquote>

Easy enough, but I like it.

"Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends."</p>

HerenIstarion 06-11-2001 12:40 PM

Must be Gandalf to Aragorn on the slopes of Mindolluin

Re: Memorable Quotes

H-I, the next time I do a Quote, Im going to make it so hard that not even you will be able to answer it. <img src=smile.gif ALT=":)">

"Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends."</p>

HerenIstarion 06-19-2001 06:21 AM

Go ahead, that'll be great :)

Next one:

Quote:

'This is a bitter jest indeed!' ... 'And a curse too upon your errand!' he cried. 'This only was wanting. Now comes the night
