Re: Where would you most like to live?

I would live in Moria. It has always appealed to me. It just looks like such an awesome place, and such an accomplishment. An also if guarded carefully and properly it could be an impenetrable fortress.

Where would you most like to live

It would have to be Hobbiton. It just reminds me of when I was a child and living near woods. A much more innocent time

Re: Where would you most like to live

I voted for Rivendell, because of the merry environment and many elves. But Minas Tirith would be a cool place to live in too.

Live?

I voted for Rivendell. A fine place for good music, storytelling, good food, good company, visitors from various places, the great outdoors, and no sackville-Bagginses. I don't blame Bilbo for leaving at all, though Hobbiton would be my second choice.

I think Moria would be cool;and I guess once you get used to them Dwarves are okay. <img src=smile.gif ALT=":)">

Snowdog 12-09-2002 11:10 AM

none of those places. I would live in Annśminas by the shores of Evendim, or in Ithilien.

Snowdog:

Hmmmm, somehow I had a feeling you'd be showing up here, since we both share an acquaintance with a certain Innkeeper friend of mine here at the Barrow Downs.

Welcome. Here's hoping the Barrow Downs becomes one of the places you'd most like to live ... er, haunt.

Gandalf the Grey

Airerūthiel 12-09-2002 01:09 PM

I'd like to live in Hobbiton or Rivendell, although I got the Long Lake in the Location Test.

Meela 12-09-2002 04:07 PM

my home- minas tirith

or rohan

MLD-Grounds-Keeper-Willie 12-09-2002 07:00 PM

If I got to choose, I'd live in The Barrow Downs or the Old Forest because those are my favorite places in ME. I'd walk around with a sword at least in the Barrow Downs and never walk in the forest with an axe. Anyways, this brings me to my first choice of the available choices, which is hobbiton. Since hobbiton is so close to where I'd like to live, I'd live there. Also, it would be nice to live in the shire and visit The Green Dragon and the Prancing Pony and Bree are not to far off, so I'd find myself at the Prancing Pony a lot. My second choice of the available choices would be Moria.

Sasha 01-10-2003 10:35 PM

Most definitely Rivendell

Deathwail 01-11-2003 12:44 AM

I for one would live in Mordor, could see myself as a Olog-Hai Captain or something along those lines.

lord of dor-lomin 01-11-2003 12:55 AM

I would also love to live in Moria back when the dwarves were there. The place looks so cool!!

Rivendell might be my top pick though. It's just beautiful, and so relaxing. I could chill out with Erestor and Glorfindel, go hunting with Elrond's sons, and learn my history from Elrond himself (and while he wasn't looking, maybe spend some quality time with Arwen).

Gorwingel 01-11-2003 01:26 AM

It would have to be either Hobbiton (for the very simple life), or Rivendell, it looks like a place that is so amazing, dreamy, wonderful, I could spend my whole life there.

Olaf Von Lichenstein 01-11-2003 11:43 AM

IM with Lord of Domlinon all the way!

Malamute 01-12-2003 05:54 PM

Fangorn Forest without hesitation.

I just Love the thought of such an old deep thick forest with memories of a time gone past. Besides i am a bit of a loner and could spend alot of time talking to the tree's. I guess i wish i was a shephard.

Olorin 01-12-2003 08:44 PM

Definitely Lothlorien, but Moria would be cool too.

Aragost 01-12-2003 09:09 PM

I would really like to live in the ruins around Eregion and Hollin.

Isilmėiel 01-13-2003 03:11 PM

Either Lothlorien or Rivendell. In the location test I got Rivendell, then Lothlorien and Mirkwood. I *always* get elvish things on those kinds of tests. Except I got Aragorn once (raised in Rivendell) and Eowyn once (she just kicks arse).

Artalwen 01-13-2003 05:21 PM

Rivendell or Lorien, definitly. Beautiful places, I love each. Lorien, preferably...but I love both.

aragornreborn 01-15-2003 04:28 PM

Live? In one place? For a long period of time? I would rather just roam around. My favorite places to stop for a while though would be Lothlorien, Rivendell, Rohan, Gondor, and the Shire in that order.

Finiel 01-16-2003 07:39 AM

I think Rivendell is getting crowded with elves and people
the food's great, though.

So I might settle in Dol Amroth because its near to the sea and good-looking men with elven blood roam there. hee hee

Inderjit Sanghera 01-16-2003 09:01 AM

Rivendell or the Shire. I depends on where I can get drunk more.

Taraithwen 01-17-2003 05:37 PM

Rivendell, Lothlorien, or The Shire... in that order. Rivendell & Lothlorien because of the serenity, Elves, knowledge, Elves, & all-over peacefulness. And Elves.
The Shire because it's peaceful & serene. It has rolling green hills & adorable little Hobbits.

lol

Maddox 01-17-2003 06:19 PM

Probably Rivendell. Or Lothlorien.
Far away from those tricksy hobbitses.

Sword Maiden Of The Shire 01-17-2003 07:58 PM

No doubt in my mind; You'll find me in The Shire. Amoung all my fellow hobbits. I LOVE it there!!

I want to live in Bree! I know in the movie it didn't look very nice, but in the book it sounds like a sort of meeting place where Hobbits, Men, Elves and Dwarves could rub elbows and enjoy a pint of Barliman's best together.

"Bree was the chief village of the Bree-land ... The Men of Bree were brown-haired, broad and rather short, cheerful and independent: they belonged to nobody but themselves, but they were more friendly and familiar with Hobbits, Dwarves, Elves, and other inhabitants of the world about them than was (or is) usual with Big People. ... There wre also many families of Hobbits in the Bree-land ... The Big Folk and the Little Folk (as they called one another) were on friendly terms, minding their own affairs in their own ways, but both rightly regarding themselves as necessary parts of the Bree-folk. *Nowhere else in the world* was this peculiar (but excellent) arrangement to be found."

To my way of thinking, Bree is like a Shire for Big Folk (and Little), with visits by Elves, Dwarves and Rangers to spice things up. What a great place to live!

Inderjit Sanghera 01-23-2003 01:22 PM

Elves didn't vsisit Bree. Unless Butterbur was an unusually clever and good looking one, that is. Bored of the Rings doesn't treat the residents of Bree, sorry Whee too kindly.

I would love to live in Rivvendel. That place is so pretty. By the way, I'm a NEWBIE.

Nevcairion_of_Rivendell 01-24-2003 06:32 PM

Good choice Jesse&Nevmetwen i would like Rivendell

Candace 01-24-2003 08:12 PM

Good one Maddox i would have to say the same rivendale cause of the elves. I would want to princess of Mirkwood if you haven`t guess yet its cause Legolas prince of Mirkwood
and live happy ever after

Merri 01-24-2003 08:19 PM

I think I belong in the Shire, but I wouldn't mind living in Rivendell just because it's so beautiful.

I like Lothlorien, too, though I couldn't live there since I'm terrified of heights

The Saucepan Man 01-24-2003 09:11 PM

I quite fancy Thranduil's place - the home of the Wood Elves in Northern Mirkwood. From what I read in The Hobbit, they have great parties, and if someone you don't like turns up, you just shut it down and move it someplace else.

Ardwenna 01-25-2003 04:52 AM

Rivendell would be my first choice, but I think I would like the shire as well. Lots of green.

Lily Bracegirdle 01-25-2003 05:31 PM

Hi, Inderjit Sanghera!

Well, it's certainly true no elves are seen in Bree in LotR, but I'm assuming they must occasionally go there as it states:

"The Bree-folk, Big and Little, did not themselves travel much"

If the Bree-folk rarely go anywhere, how can they be "more friendly and familiar with Hobbits, Dwarves, Elves ... than was (or is) usual with Big People", unless the Elves and Dwarves come to *them*? Maybe some Elves travel through Bree on the way to the Grey Havens. Or maybe they go slumming at the Prancing Pony with King Elessar when he's visiting Lake Evendim.

Unless, of course, by "friendly and familiar" the Professor is saying that the rare Bree-folk that wandered outside Bree and came across an Elf would be more likely to pinch his bottom than your average Man would be.

Cheers!

I myself would have to say woods of lothorien, the calm peacefulness that surrounds you and the gentel sweeping breeze that could leave you with the feeling for serenity all around. These woods are magical and are beautiful in land and nature.... not one could dream of such a place even in their most magical dreams sent from above..

Carry on the star from above for it will guide your heart from reckless toil....

Gandalf, yes, this is a place I will haunt!

the guy who be short 02-27-2003 04:01 PM

i would live in khazud dum, the ancient home of my folk (i am 4 foot 10). it would be great- the halls would be wonderful, chiselled by the dwarves... it would just be too beautiful to describe. it would be better than rivendell, cos dwarves are better crafters. unfortunately, then the balrogwould come, and id havta move to erebor. then smaug would come and i would haavta become a wanderer
