Okay welcome to Ainur Trivia...
Basically when you get a question right, you ask one and if no-one gets it in two days you ask another! Simple. Enjoy.

Osse was a Maia, the servant of Ulmo, whose province was the coastal waters around ME.
His spouse was Uinen, and he had the friendship of Cirdan the Shipwright.

Welcoem too the downs!! plz read the quiz room rules and i know your probaly thinkign theres nothign wrong with your quiz but we give ten days if no one responds etc. etc.

Welcome to the Downs, Osse, and to the Quiz Room. I hope that you have fun with the quizzes here.

Gil-Galad is right. All games here are governed by the Quiz Room rules, which specify that a new question may be set by someone other than the person giving the correct answer to the previous question only if after at least 10 days:
 • no new question has been asked following confirmation of a correct answer, or
 • no response has been given by the question setter to the last answer.

So please feel free to carry on this game on that basis.

Righto, thanks alot ... Diamond Green forgot to ask a question of his own. If no-one minds i will now ask one! (DG you can cash your question in later if there is a lull of ten days )

here's the next question:Who was Olorin, and where was his abode?

Diamond Green 07-21-2003 01:50 AM

I couldn't ask a new question, as long as you didn't confirm that my answer was right! (also in Quiz rules I believe)

The Saucepan Man 07-21-2003 06:55 AM

Welcome to the Quiz Room to you too, Diamond Green. Glad to see that you have taken the rules on board already.

You are of course right. The correct answer has to be confirmed before the person giving it can post the next question.

So if Diamond wants to continue, your question will have to wait until your next correct answer, Osse.

Diamond Green 07-21-2003 07:16 AM

thank you, Saucepan man

Ok, new question:

Give the names of the two lamps of the Valar, and who made them?

Eruanna 07-21-2003 08:48 AM

The lamps were called Illuin and Ormal. They were made by Aulë, at Yavanna's request.

Diamond Green 07-21-2003 08:54 AM

that's right, your turn

Eruanna 07-21-2003 03:54 PM

Thanks

What does Ulmo use to make his music?

Mariska Greenleaf 07-22-2003 01:44 AM

He uses the Ulumúri, great horns that are wrought of white shell.

Eruanna 07-22-2003 11:38 AM

Correct

Your turn.

Mariska Greenleaf 07-24-2003 09:19 AM

ok,

Give the name for the long period that lays between the founding of Valinor and its Darkening. And exactly how long was that?

Gwaihir the Windlord 07-25-2003 01:38 AM

The Noontide. And it was, er, 'four ages' (or was it three? six maybe) long, although how many years that may be we don't know.

Mariska Greenleaf 07-25-2003 02:08 AM

I'm sorry Windlord, but that's not what I'm looking for...

Aredhel Idril Telcontar 07-25-2003 08:22 AM

The Ages of the Trees, no? And they lasted... for 20 000 mortal years or 20 Valarian Ages.

It was indeed the Years of the Trees.
But can you be a bit more specific about the length of the period?

Aredhel Idril Telcontar 07-26-2003 01:33 AM

Ok, I'll try...

10th Valarian age - 20th Valarian age: The Blessed Years. 20th Valarian age - 30th Valarian age: Noontide of the Blessed. I don't know the exact years.

-Aredhel

Gwaihir the Windlord 07-27-2003 02:46 AM

Sorry, this (the number of 'Valinorean Ages') is information I haven't actually come accross before.

Aredhel Idril Telcontar 07-27-2003 11:58 AM

I got it in one of the numerous encyclopaedias... I only borrowed it, so I cannot remember its title, but the Valinorean ages just got stuck in my mind

Mariska Greenleaf 07-30-2003 02:43 AM

Well, I haven't seen the correct answer so far.
I'm looking for the lenght in years as we know them.

I could give a hint by telling how many Valian years it was, but I'll let you search a little longer...

Mariska Greenleaf 08-04-2003 04:42 AM

ok, a hint then...

The Years of the Trees lasted for a total of 1495 Valian Years.
Now, how much is that in years as we know them?
