I honestly can't think of one. Hmmmm... The Etible(sp?) Ent? I don't know. That came from absolutely nowhere but......

Me to. :D Congrats! I already sent mine in, and I'm very excited. ;)

Perky maybe you could use the word Arboreal (treelike). Or Shepherd would go well would your nick, obviously.

So perhaps Arboreal Shepherd, tree-like shepherd.

Just an idea. :p

Glirdan 10-03-2005 04:15 PM

Congrats Wilwa!!! And may I ask what it is?? Are you going ahead with the Fluttering Enchantment idea? And congrats to all others who go their PT's!!!

wilwarin538 10-03-2005 04:20 PM

You will just have to wait and see. :p

Interesting indeed! I think I want mine to have something to do with perky or hasty, but I'm not sure. Arboreal sprinter? ...nah. I wonder who else got PT's, and what mine will be :smokin:

wilwarin538 10-03-2005 05:06 PM

How about Cheerfully Arboreal? ;)

The Perky Ent 10-03-2005 05:22 PM

Cheerful? Naw. Needs to be something more ...more...energetic :p

The whole alliteration thing sounds good. Now what A word can compliment Arboreal....

Gurthang 10-03-2005 07:55 PM

Perky, perhaps Playful Entreeter? Notice En'tree'ter. Hmmm... Joyful Guide? Bounding Branch? Humorous Huorn? Glad Guardian?

I don't think you'll pick any of those, but maybe I've sparked something in your imagination. Hope I've been helpful at least.

Kath 10-04-2005 08:38 AM

Hey Perky how about Animated Arborescent? Arborescent meaning treelike in growth or form.

The Perky Ent 10-04-2005 09:07 AM

Animated Arborescent? Hmm....now we're getting closer....

the guy who be short 10-04-2005 10:03 AM

Arborescent is an adjective. You could have Animated Arborescence, if you so wish...

Mithalwen 10-04-2005 10:14 AM

Arboreal Athlete? Arboreal Allegro?

mormegil 10-04-2005 10:22 AM

Arborescent Apparition or Arboreal Apparition

A derivation of Mith and Kath. Using alliteration and keeping in theme with the whole death idea.

Bêthberry 10-04-2005 10:56 AM

While it is true that 'Arborescent' is an adjective, nothing stops a person from using a word newly, especially in terms of fantasy. We are talking about Perky's use of Tolkien's imagined species of walking, talking trees, after all. In the primary world, we might not have humans in tree form, which the noun form would suggest, but we're talking subcreation here.

I see no reason why Perky couldn't use Arborescent as a noun, especially since it implies a word play upon "Adolescent" which might seem suitable for Perky. Well, I don't know really, but I like the idea of thinking that our The Perky Ent is a teenager in perpetuum. :D

Animated Arborescent. It even includes the idea of perkiness! :smokin:

ohtatyaro 10-05-2005 04:21 AM

Animated Arborescence, than?

If I ever reach 500 (this one is number 99, one to go to 100!) and beyond, and am offered a chance, I'd liek to play along my screenname too. Somethin about mortal (dead?) warriors, perhaps.

Mithalwen 10-05-2005 07:00 AM

Animate Arboretum? but I guess there would have to be more than one of him.

That be a good thing, say I, since Ghost "Prince" of Cardolan be most unfitting for a lady...

wilwarin538 10-05-2005 02:50 PM

How bout Animatedly Arborescent? :p

Congrats Kath! :D

the guy who be short 10-05-2005 02:58 PM

Or Arboresc Ent? :smokin:

I'd say you plug all these suggestions into a spreadsheet and get a random number generator to choose one for you. :D No pain, no deliberation... easy.

Kath 10-05-2005 02:59 PM

Thanks wilwa you too! I'll be waiting to see what you chose.

Glirdan 10-05-2005 03:56 PM

Congrats Kath!!!! Can't wait to see what it will be!!!

dancing spawn of ungoliant 10-09-2005 09:00 AM

Congratulations Newly Titled!

Kath, Everlasting Whiteness, Kitanna, Child of the West and Wilwa, Fluttering Enchantment.

Very nice and well deserved titles.

The Perky Ent 10-09-2005 01:47 PM

I don't know....I JUST DON'T KNOW!!! Seriously, I'm racking my brain over this title, but none of this Arborescent stuff is appealing to me. Maybe alliteration isn't the best way to go. Hmm....I just don't know....

mormegil 10-09-2005 01:51 PM

What about simply saying "My personal title"

wilwarin538 10-09-2005 01:55 PM

Or maybe, Here be my Personal Title. :p (see my sig)

Firefoot 10-09-2005 02:36 PM

Congrats to all you new title receivers - I like them all. Kitanna, I love the simplicity of yours. Lovely.

Perky, perhaps you want to go with something that reflects the contradiction of your nick? Paradox, oxymoron, contradiction, irony, illogicality, discrepancy, improbability, and irregularity are some word ideas.

Alcarillo 10-09-2005 02:47 PM

Congratulations to everyone with new titles!

Perky, how about Oxymoron of the Onodrim?

mormegil 10-09-2005 03:33 PM

Perky here is a site that will help you. Thesaurus.com plug in a word that you like and you will get a lot of different options.

Gil-Galad 10-09-2005 03:35 PM

calling Perky Ent Oxymoron was my idea..... :p

Gurthang 10-09-2005 06:07 PM

Perky, here are some more things to try to trigger your imagination:

A Sequoia's Soul
Entrapped Irregularity
Hasty Herder
(although you said you didn't really like hasty)
Pugnacious Emblem (Your initials 'PE')
Oxy-Mordoric Escapist (I'm not even sure what that would mean! )
Lovable Leaf

Hope that turns some wheels. :)

(600 posts!)

Gil-Galad 10-09-2005 07:43 PM

i wouldn't mind some ideas for mine too... i did have some but i can't remember them

Glirdan 10-09-2005 08:59 PM

Me and Kath were talking the other day about what her PT was going to be and then I told her about TGWBS's suggestion of Wordsmyth (which I'm going to use BTW) and she suggested using alliteration and came up with "Wandering Wordsmyth". Now, I'm pretty sure that's what my PT will be if I get offered it. What do you guys think of it?

Sounds very typically 'Downsian: alliterative, medieval, with some application to one's character.

I have to say, though, that I find this thread remarkably funny in the light of the Barrow-Wight's strong policy regarding Personal Titles, that he who asks is doomed to be passed over, and that it is a special honour...

However, while proposing titles for those with no idea, I have to say that I think t'would be great fun to be "Ghost King of Arnor", considering all the "Ghost Princes of Cardolan" floating around...

Are you saying this from experience? Because I think I can. :( Well, that's what I get for being impatient...

Anyway, it's kind of fun trying to help others figure out what they want in a PT, as well as speculating about one's own. I might even say that talking about it and listening to all the good feedback would be a little more entertaining than getting a title. I mean, I would love to get one, but once it's gotten, there's no more speculating on what to choose. It's done, there's no changing it. It's almost a bitter-sweet event.

Thinlómien 10-10-2005 07:36 AM

Perky, what about His Perkiness, which someone referred you as somewhere (can't remember where).

I have more ideas for my title-to-be (if I ever get one...)
Daughter of the Dead
Daughter of the Dark
Daughter of the Stars
or maybe Spirit of Seaweed...

Quite true, on both counts, as The Barrow-Wight has proclaimed several times, yet discussing possible PTs is not the same as PMing his Wightness and asking for one. And, after all, a thread like this is evidence of the estime with which some Downers regard the conferring of a Personal Title and as such I suspect it works within his sense of Wight things. ;)

EDIT: And rather than "His Perkiness", something more Downish might be şe Perkiness. After all, we have The Perilous Poet and The Squatter of Amon Rüdh, but no one I think has yet used any of the Old English letters. :smokin:

EDIT II: Heavens to betsy, I forgot about The Saucepan Man!

The Blood Mage 10-10-2005 08:18 AM

And I can think of some Dark ones too :-

Avtaar OF Vengence
Avtaar of Darkness
The LightBringer
FlameSeeker

And My Eternal Favourite ;

The Dark Lord ;)

No! I play things far too safe (except MAYBE in Werewolf...), to ever contemplate that.

And, as Bethberry noted, it's not QUITE the same thing posting on this thread as asking for one. Several of the people who posted early on this thread were in the last batch of nominees...

No, I just find it funny, that's all...

Hmm... and speaking of Werewolf, I'm surprised no one has gone with a Werewolfish title yet...
