insults.
another quote game.
You have to identify the speaker, the insulted, and the referrence (if there is one) of the insulting quote from a Tolkien book. correct guess goes next. to start off {qoute] dost thou desire the whole world for thy belly [/quote] Edit: excuse me if for stating the obvious. |
Was it Melkor to Ungolient?
|

was it the mouth of Sauron to the delegation referring to Frodo?
|
Nope, not that, sorry.
|
I don't think its a LotR quote...
Thingol to the dwarves who made the necklace I believe. It was when they asked for greater payment I believe.
|
That's right.

This thread seems to be dying....so here's an easy one to start it up again:

To get this moving again I believe I shall give you an easy one. Almost too easy in fact...

Gandalf to Pippin in Moria.
the previous one is Turin Turambar to Brandir the Lame |
Heh... maybe it isn't that easy. Gandalf to Pippin in Moria is not what I'm looking for.
|
Gandalf to Pippin in Isengard, then?

Can someone please quote the passage where Gandalf says to Pippin in Isengard "fool of a took?????? double checking it is found in Moria just after Pippin drops a stone into a well, can't seem to find it in any passages that take place in Isengard with the necessary charatcers. Gandalf does call Pippin a tom-fool of a Took though, (without being pedantic)
|
It is the 'tom-fool of a Took' quote. I just have an annoying habit of shortening/cutting away quotes like that. Just to make it a bit more challenging for the others. :)
Not like I'd cut words into half at random. Just in cases like this one where you can mistake it with something else. Its not the first time I've been tricksy at Quotes. :p Anyway, welcome to the Barrow-Downs and I hope you have a good stay. I'll be looking forward to seeing more of you in Quotes. |

Do you need a hint? ;) It's from one of the Minor Works...
Or are they not included in this thread? :( |
They should be included imo, otherwise we'll run out of quotes to use...
But I think we're gonna need another hint to get this one. :) |
Look in the poems... ;)
|
I do believe that was Bilbo to the Spiders in Mirkwood.
|
"The Hobbit" is not one of the Minor Works ;)
|
Awwww....well, I won't get it... (I don't have any of the minor works...)
|
Hm, it looks like I have killed this thread with this quote :(
It's from "Tales from the Perilous Realm" in one of the poems. But if nobody gets it soon, I'll solve it and post another "insult" from LotR |
