Tom Bombadil & Color Symbolism – A New Approach

A new set of essays on Tom & Goldberry appear to be in the process of being unleashed. The first is now available:

The author has began to look at the episode in terms of color symbolism not ever discussed before. In particular - deliberate contrivance by Tolkien to exploit “green as a fairy color”.

If there really are five essays – then the discussion is in its infancy – with obviously much more to come.

The theme continues with Part II focusing in on Tom's 'blue' and 'yellow' colors coded to result in 'green'. The proposal is that Tom started out as a 'fairy being'. The rationalization is that Tolkien subtly alluded to this in his On Fairy-stories paper.
