Gandalf then? He did battle them on Weathertop...

Sirithheruwen 04-20-2004 01:26 PM

"Tricksey Saucepans" Indeed!

Uh...Bob and Nob? I've no clue if they are related or not, but I think so... Nob shouted at a Black Rider...sort of...just a guess...

The Saucepan Man 04-20-2004 07:37 PM

Bob and Nob it is

Sirithheruwen has it.

They are related by employment, if nothing else. And you are right. I was thinking of Nob's challenge to the two Black Riders who were bending over a prone Merry. It never really occured to me until I set this question that Nob played such a significant role, preventing as he did Merry's almost certain capture, if not death.

So, the thread is yours Sirithheruwen. :)

Sirithheruwen 04-21-2004 07:21 AM

Much thanks Saucepan! :)
Here's the next one:
Weary with a broken neck.

AND

Fresh in battle with a red axe.

Good luck! :)

NightKnight 04-21-2004 08:03 AM

Nain and Dain Ironfoot?

Sirithheruwen 04-21-2004 02:39 PM

Yeah...and I thought that was somewhat hard! Oh well...Your go, NightKnight!

NightKnight 04-22-2004 01:47 PM

Not too hard for me. ;)

Killed by dwarves because of their greed

and

Grandfather of he that turned back

Fingolfin II 04-23-2004 12:18 AM

Thingol and Celeborn?

NightKnight 04-23-2004 03:47 AM

Thingol is right, Celeborn isn't.

Thorongil 04-23-2004 06:11 AM

Could the other be Finwe, who was the grandfather of Turgon who turned back from the Nirnaeth?

NightKnight 04-24-2004 04:03 AM

Could have been, but it isn't. :D

Gil-Galad 04-24-2004 10:24 PM

Thingol and....Earendil? hint maybe?

NightKnight 04-25-2004 03:53 AM

Not Eärendil. HINT: The one who turned back was a noldor.

Gil-Galad 04-25-2004 03:04 PM

I'm thinking Turgon... and thingol

Nilpaurion Felagund 04-25-2004 08:33 PM

He that turned back. I'm thinking Finarfin, but he had no grandpapa. :)

Is Eärendil a Noldo? If so, Huor?

Thorongil 04-26-2004 12:55 AM

Or Dior?

Gil-Galad 04-26-2004 06:45 AM

Question: is the other guy pure noldor? or a mix like noldor/sindar or noldor/man or noldor/teleri?

NightKnight 04-27-2004 04:20 AM

*Smacks head into the wall many times* Nil, you're right! Finarfin had no grandfather. I was thinking about his children... Anyway, it shouldn't be too hard now...

Gil-Galad 04-27-2004 06:38 AM

Galadriel!!!

NightKnight 04-27-2004 07:49 AM

Galadriel can't be a grandfather, can she?

Gil-Galad 04-27-2004 04:21 PM

yah my bad...

Fingolfin II 04-28-2004 02:47 AM

Finrod?

NightKnight 04-28-2004 03:25 AM

No. The person is the grandfather of the children of he that turned back.

Thorongil 04-28-2004 03:38 AM

Then it must be Finwe.

Gil-Galad 04-28-2004 07:15 AM

but Finwe is already said....Fingolfin maybe?

(keep in mind, your suppose to name the person who turned back's grandfather)

NightKnight 04-28-2004 08:09 AM

Both are wrong. And Gil-Galad, you're supposed to name the grandfather to the children of he that turned back. :p

The Saucepan Man 04-28-2004 08:19 AM

Then it must be ...

Olwe, father of Finarfin's wife, Earwen.

NightKnight 04-28-2004 09:10 AM

Well, since both Fingolfin II and Saucepan Man had one right guess each, one of you should continue. But that's up to you two to decide.

The Saucepan Man 04-28-2004 09:11 AM

Fingolfin can go.

Fingolfin II 04-29-2004 01:28 AM

Cheers Saucy, thanks for that.

Tormented twice; repented thrice; yet I did not endure the Grinding Ice.

Much love did the greatest of them all have for many things, though he loved his father best.

Thorongil 04-29-2004 02:52 AM

Maedhros & Feanor?

Fingolfin II 04-29-2004 03:50 AM

Yes. Maybe I should make it harder next time....

Thorongil 04-29-2004 08:14 AM

These aren't too hard either. The greatest callenge in these games isn't getting the answer right, it's making your own riddles.

A dark thief

Hidden evil in the bliss

NightKnight 04-29-2004 08:34 AM

The thievesss, the filthy little thievesss...

Anyway, Morgoth and Ungoliant?

Thorongil 04-29-2004 08:39 AM

Nope

NightKnight 04-29-2004 09:38 AM

Sauron and Maeglin?

Thorongil 04-29-2004 11:08 PM

Maeglin is correct. Sauron isn't.

Fingolfin II 04-30-2004 01:08 AM

Maeglin and Eol? Eol was a Dark Elf and 'stole' Aredhel, forcing her to wed him.

Thorongil 04-30-2004 01:15 AM

Eol is correct. Since Fingolfin II & NightKnight had one each, whoever is first can continue.

Fingolfin II 04-30-2004 01:16 AM

I'm blank....NightKnight can go.
