I got it now...

In the middle of the sequence, when you can see them all in the field, there are only eight Ringwraiths. At the ford, when they are hit by the river, there are nine. :D

Eowyn Skywalker 03-27-2004 08:21 PM

Ummm... you can't hear the hoof beats?
I seriously need to rewatch that movie... I've seen it twice!
Well, you did say that even a blind man could get it...

Testing...

Orcist is probably right. :p

Edit:(Re: Testing...) Yay! My avatar works!! :D

symestreem 03-27-2004 09:10 PM

You are on the right track with the hoofbeats, Ms. Skywalker, but it's not that simple. Keep with it.
Samwise, is the line you're thinking of possible "Noro lim, noro lim, Asfaloth!"? (Ride on, ride on, Asfaloth!)
The answer was listed as an "Easter Egg" in a newstand magazine shortly before RotK came out. Unfortunately, I don't remember which magazine :( so I can't help you there. I don't know if its available in other countries, either.

That must be it.

Um.... The sound of the hoofbeats didn't match the footfalls (hooffalls) of the horses? No...you said a blind man could get it....at one point the hoofbeats cut out?

Mithisilien 03-27-2004 10:43 PM

Hmmm.....listening to it, it sounds like there's about one or two horses galloping, when you can hear the hoofbeats at all. I'm gonna say there aren't enough hoofbeats for the number of horses.

symestreem 03-28-2004 09:56 AM

I'm going to give it to Samwise. What happened was when they filmed the scene, the horses were galloping, but the hoofbeats weren't picked up by the microphone. So they went back and added the sound in, but they accidentally added in the sound of cantering horses. (A canter is a bit slower than gallop, if I'm not mistaken. Plus, a canter is three beats and a gallop is four beats.) You can read about it here.
The thread's yours!

Orcrist 03-28-2004 09:53 PM

Way to go Samwise :D

Orcrist 04-06-2004 08:27 PM

That was ten days so.....

How many copies of Narsil did they make for the films?

Lindir 04-07-2004 02:58 PM

5? :p

Orcrist 04-07-2004 08:39 PM

Darn you Lindir...

You got it

Lindir 04-08-2004 03:28 PM

The props team made fake horses for the battles, how much did they cost each?

Samwise 04-08-2004 03:46 PM

$ $ $ ?

 $50 ?

The Perky Ent 04-08-2004 03:50 PM

$150? Or whatever the quivilant is in Euros or Pounds or whatever the currency is! I'm not an accountant, so i have no clue.

Lindir 04-08-2004 04:12 PM

Nope. You both fall short there. But the answer I'm looking for is in dollars. Sorry for inclarification. :p

Samwise 04-08-2004 04:15 PM

? $ ? $ ? $

$750?

The Perky Ent 04-08-2004 04:18 PM

$675

And i didn't mean to make a scene. Since the Downs is international, i didn't know!

Samwise 04-08-2004 04:25 PM

$ ? $ ? $ ? $

LOL...I feel like I'm at an auction....

$1000?

Lindir 04-08-2004 04:45 PM

Nope. Still short.

Samwise 04-08-2004 04:49 PM

Uh....???

$2500?

(Were the fake horses lined with mithril or something? ;)

The Perky Ent 04-08-2004 07:11 PM

$5400?????

Guessing by this post they were made out of mithril :D

symestreem 04-08-2004 08:03 PM

$2,000.00/horse. One was lost in a fire.

Samwise 04-08-2004 09:41 PM

Going once, going twice.....

:p Leave it to symstreem. ;) Just in case he's wrong though (which I doubt):
$5500?

Lindir 04-09-2004 09:55 AM

symestreem got it. 2000$, and one was lost in a Rohan scene.

symestreem 04-09-2004 07:55 PM

How wide was Boromir's sword?

Samwise 04-10-2004 11:05 AM

As usual, no clue...

Two and a half inches, to throw out something random. :p

Mad Baggins 04-10-2004 02:56 PM

I'll say three inches!

symestreem 04-10-2004 03:20 PM

Mad Baggins is right. The Lord of the Rings Weapons and Warfare book says... shoot. It's buried at the bottom of a huge pile of books.
Fine time to organize your library, symestreem.
Just what I need, I'm turning into Nilpaurion.
Anyway... LOTRWOW says something like it was three inches at its widest point. The actual blade, not the guard.

Orcrist 04-14-2004 08:48 PM

*poke* Baggins? You there?

Orcrist 04-22-2004 08:41 PM

Ten days...

When did preliminary shooting start on LOTR?(month and year) :D

Samwise 04-22-2004 09:41 PM

NOT - A - CLUE....

December 2000

(to throw a random month and year out there....) :p

NightKnight 04-23-2004 03:48 AM

Lindir 04-23-2004 02:33 PM

Nov. '99?

Thorongil 04-24-2004 04:12 AM

June 2000?

Anorial 04-24-2004 12:43 PM

October 11th, 1999?

Orcrist 04-24-2004 06:04 PM

Anorial got it. I don't know if it was the 11th but I know 10-99 is right.

Anorial 04-24-2004 06:35 PM

Gandalf told me so :)

Anorial 04-25-2004 06:04 PM

Gil-Galad 04-25-2004 06:38 PM
