What did Gimli say?

In Lorien Haldir says something about dwarfs and Gimli responses saying something in dwarfish/elvish. To that Aragorn says "that was not polite". What did Gimli say?

It technically wasn't anything in Khuzdul. John Rhys-Davies made that up on the spur of the moment just so it would sound something like a curse in Khuzdul.

I beg to differ...I don't believe they would allow for ad-libs like that, except in the case of the Cry of Anguish after the Helmet Kick of Dumbness.
According to this movie Elvish site, he says Ishkhaqwi ai durugnul, which is translated "I spit on your grave." I do not know how technically accurate this is to Tolkien's original conception for the tongue of the Dwarves, but this is how it was intended for the movie.

I do believe that he did say I spit on your grave. But that's only loosly translated in the previous site and my mind.

Ah... sorry. *blushes*

I read on a movie Elvish site that the line was supposed to mean "I spit on your grave," but John Rhys-Davies was given leave, after some coaching in rudimentary Khuzdul, to come up with something that sounded like Khuzdul.
I'm deeply sorry that I was mistaken.

Ahh... Thanks I've often wondered what that line meant. Now I can repeat it to all my friends and insult them. *evil laugh*

It doesn't strike me as a meaningful thing to say to a living person. Maybe they should have saved it until the Helm's Deep scene.

Maybe he was really saying it to Peter Jackson in retaliation for the horrible dialogue. :p
