A new Downer

Lal gave birth to a boy last night - 10.30. Mother & baby are both fine.

(Sorry there's no more details at the moment, but its 2.40 am here & I've just got back from the Hospital. Eleven pounds 3 ounces by caesarian. And now to bed.)

Morwen 10-11-2007 07:44 PM

Congratulations:).

Oddwen 10-11-2007 07:47 PM

Many many congratulations to you both!

TheGreatElvenWarrior 10-11-2007 08:22 PM

To Lalwende

Congrats on the new arrival!

alatar 10-11-2007 08:27 PM

Congratulations to you both on your new addition! :)

Sleep whenever you can.

Feanor of the Peredhil 10-11-2007 08:32 PM

Yay!

Congratulations, guys. So exciting.

And http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y64...iecongrats.gif to Lal and davem.

Bêthberry 10-11-2007 08:56 PM

Is that addition or edition, alatar? ;)

And concerning sleep, some say this provides a slight solution:

(Oh, and, be prepared for receiving lots of advice, particularly from absolute strangers, of whom I am of course one as we've never met.)

(yes, I am allowed to double post on such an occasion especially as I have time on my hands.

Valesse 10-11-2007 10:50 PM

How wonderful! Congratulations you... three!

Raynor 10-11-2007 11:05 PM

Congratulations! :)

You will need to select for him a BD nick, so we can properly refer to him ;).

Lalaith 10-12-2007 12:46 AM

Splendid news, well done everyone!
Eleven pounds 3, wow, I am really impressed. There's some fine Northern genes there, for sure.

Hookbill the Goomba 10-12-2007 01:18 AM

A Thousand thumbs up!

Well done, well done.

May your times be filled with the joys of good things and very few filthy nappies indeed. :D

Let life be good forever from now on!

Legate of Amon Lanc 10-12-2007 01:26 AM

Wonderful news! Many congratulations to you! I hope he's not going to join the Downs when he grows up, because if the combined genes work, then no discussion thread will be safe anymore :) Pass all our congrats to Lalwendë as well!

Thinlómien 10-12-2007 01:51 AM

<- that's the one closest to fireworks, right? :D

I'm so glad to hear everything went fine. :) Congratulations!

Child of the 7th Age 10-12-2007 02:33 AM

Best of luck and congratulations! Your life will change. Oh how it will! It's as if you walk out the door and are swept along by something you never even knew existed before. I am sure you will do great with the child rearing. My one and only piece of advice is to make sure you both get enough sleep in the coming weeks.

Brinniel 10-12-2007 02:47 AM

Hip Hip Hooray!

Congratulations to you guys!

It is good to know everything is well. I'm sure you two have had a very exciting (and exhausting) week. Hopefully the baby will let you at least get some shut eye..

I think we all here look forward to seeing pictures in the future. :)

Rune Son of Bjarne 10-12-2007 04:39 AM

Congratulations! What else is there to say. . .I am glad that both are feeling fine and I hope that you are too.

(Did you know that "Rohan" is aproved as a boys name in Denmark?)

Mithalwen 10-12-2007 05:02 AM

Yet more congratulations....

That is a very bonny baby..... maybe the paper round by Christmas isn't so far fetched after all!

Love to you all...

davem 10-12-2007 05:24 AM

We've both been reading this thread & just wanted to say thanks so much.

Mithalwen 10-12-2007 05:29 AM

Well thank you for letting us know so soon ... I know a lot of us are very fond of you both (all!) but obviously there are a lot of RL folk who have priority...

But I am typing with a huge grin on my face and am just so happy for you and relieved that he has safely arrived.

*hugs*

Finduilas 10-12-2007 06:48 AM

I will add my congratulations. Glad to hear everything went well! May you have all the joys a baby can bring.

(How soon are you going to let him read the LotR?:p)

The Might 10-12-2007 08:01 AM

Congratulations!

You could however name him Davende...or Lalwem. :D

Macalaure 10-12-2007 08:16 AM

I would like to add even more congratulations! :)

Kath 10-12-2007 08:23 AM

Congratulations! I'm so glad it all went well. Fea told me about this earlier but I didn't have time to post. 11 pounds though, ouch!

...or quickly learn to live on less - or none. ;)

Do we get to see a picture? And note that, when told the baby's weight, Ms. alatar said, "Ouch!" (even with the cesarean thing).

Mithalwen 10-12-2007 10:28 AM

I bet Mrs Alatar will have even more sympathy when you tell her the "Caesarian thing" was after 2 days of labour.... that is still a very big OUCH as far as I am concerned... and I've realised that this one was bigger than the combined birth weight of my friends twins ...

Anyone who thinks that women aren't tough hasn't witnessed up-close-and-personal pregnancy, labor and childbirth. From the male point of view; sure, when living with a pregnant woman/'helping' in the delivery, you risk your life with every utterance or act. But what amazes me is that, after carrying the child for 40 weeks or so (the whole idea of something alive inside of me is too much like 'Alien' for comfort), going through the process of labor - in Lalwendë's case, two days! - upon seeing the child it's like the whole ordeal never happened. And they may even, knowing what they know from a first child, go back and do it again!

Mithalwen 10-12-2007 11:09 AM

There is some interesting research that shows that women do forget just how painful it is surprisingly quickly which I suppose is natures way of maintaining the population... but I can't quite believe it, but then I went drinking with a obstetrician at an impressionable age ...and that really put me off :p

Encaitare 10-12-2007 12:07 PM

Eep! Congratulations!!! :D Let's get some pics so we can all go awwwww and melt into a collective Downer puddle. ;)

Mister Underhill 10-12-2007 01:13 PM

Eleven-three! That's a big boy. Well, at least he wasn't eleventy-three.

Congratulations! My small tip: keep a journal handy if you haven't already started one. Those first few months go by in a sleepless blur and later on you might really enjoy looking back on your thoughts and feelings from what will surely be one of the most intense times of your lives.

Morai 10-12-2007 02:18 PM

Congrats! I'm sure the kid's lucky to have such parents. :D

davem 10-12-2007 03:14 PM

Some pics

Valesse 10-12-2007 04:08 PM

Aw... I have to confess I squealled at the cuteness, Lal and Davem. That first picture is quintessentially... adorable! Sweetest of dreams, little one.

* gush gush gush *

Feanor of the Peredhil 10-12-2007 04:36 PM

Amazing. Usually I'm ambivalent about babies but I squeal over puppies and kittens, but I'm downright cooing over the lil fella. Look at those chubby cheeks.

Hee hee, same here...

But, I can't argue, he's a handsome lil'downer. :)

Congratulations!!! :)

Very glad to hear that Lal is okay, a ceasarian is absolutely no easy thing (as recounted to me by mum, hers almost killed her, but that's a story not needed here), and congratulations again! I hope the little one brings you more life and happiness. :)

Hilde Bracegirdle 10-12-2007 05:14 PM

Good job you two, and warm welcome to the little fellow! Wishing you 3 the best!

(He does look remarkably well for all he's been through. Hope that the same can be said for Lal!)

Nogrod 10-12-2007 05:37 PM

I'm so happy with this!

Sooner than you think he will be questioning all you wish to teach him. And before you realise he will go to school - that happens so fast!! And after that he will probably join the Downs and lo! what can we do about it but to learn from him then... :)

Congrats!

Just be human with your little guy.

No manual can teach what loving parents can do. Make him feel that he's welcome in this world and that the arms of mummy and daddy are cozy as well...

I'm so happy about to hear this!

Boromir88 10-12-2007 07:57 PM

Wow, just wow...absolutely adorable. He's even got my niece's cheeks when she was born.

I think he's got a promising future, I mean after all a child from lal and davem could only mean we will, in time, have a new wight at the top of the reputation totem poll. :D

Congradulations to all of you. :)
