Can WB still make Middle Earth movies?

Or are all the rights now in Amazon hands?

When did WB make a movie about Middle-earth? I do seem to remember something about crazy little people and a demented, bunny riding, wigged-out wizard though...

The film rights as far as I know are still owned by the Zaentz Company aka Middle-Earth Enterprises, who merely granted a license to TW/New Line to make the Jackson movies. Plainly they are also willing to license to others, like Amazon, Electronic Arts and Monolith Games.

Naturally they'll milk them for all the money they' can get, without regard for art, taste or decency.
