No, it wasn't Dol Amroth. Prince Imrahil rules there. I know it's somewhere in Ithilien and I do believe that NightKnight is right.

I'm not saying you're stupid. I'm saying that I'm pretty sure Imrahil was still ruling there after the WotR. Didn't Aragorn give Itilien to Faramir to have Stewardship in? And I'm sorry that I made you angry Gil. :(

Nilpaurion Felagund 02-19-2006 06:30 AM

NK has it.

And, welcome back. :)

Your thread. Boggle our minds. ;)

NightKnight 02-24-2006 12:12 PM

Thank you. And I'm too lazy to be active here nowadays. :P

Where did Radagast live?

JennyHallu 02-24-2006 12:13 PM

Rhovanion, right?

NightKnight 02-24-2006 12:16 PM

More specificly, please.

Dimturiel 02-24-2006 12:23 PM

Rhosgobel?

NightKnight 03-07-2006 02:31 AM

Yep.

Dimturiel 03-07-2006 10:55 AM

Who was the first bearer of Narya?

JennyHallu 03-07-2006 11:02 AM

Cirdan the Shipwright.

Dimturiel 03-08-2006 10:21 AM

Well done!

JennyHallu 03-08-2006 11:03 AM

By whose permission did Gandalf and Pippin pass through the Rammas Echor on the way to Minas Tirith?

Valier 03-08-2006 11:08 AM

Is it Ingold?

JennyHallu 03-08-2006 11:17 AM

Yup!

Your thread, Val!

I thought that would be harder, since I didn't know it myself without looking it up. ;)

Valier 03-08-2006 11:37 AM

That's just weird that I know that....;)

Who was one of the first people that Frodo set free from the lockholds?

JennyHallu 03-08-2006 11:39 AM

Will Whitfoot?

Valier 03-08-2006 11:43 AM

Not the one I was thinking of...Before Will...

JennyHallu 03-08-2006 11:47 AM

um...um...Lobelia? For some reason my brain has her as the last, not the first, but my brain is crazy.

Tuor of Gondolin 03-08-2006 12:13 PM

Fatty Bolger?

JennyHallu 03-08-2006 12:20 PM

Oh duh. My brain is crazy. Of course it's Fatty, and much the worse for wear, no?

Silly Jen.

Valier 03-08-2006 02:16 PM

You are right TUOR!! The thread is yours!:D

Tuor in Gondolin 03-08-2006 02:48 PM

Okay. What characters based in Cirith
Ungol were still alive (other then hobbits) after
Sam and Frodo left Cirith Ungol?

Glirdan 03-08-2006 03:05 PM

That's a difficult one. The Watchers??

Elu Ancalime 03-08-2006 03:45 PM

Mmm...well, one of them survived, because Frodo's stuff was brought to Barad-dur.....

Gorbag and Radbug
________
EXTREME VAPORIZER

Glirdan 03-08-2006 04:20 PM

Ooooo!! If it's who brought the stuff back to Barad-dur that you're asking about, that would be Shagrat.

Tuor of Gondolin 03-09-2006 08:58 AM

Shagrat is one of them. It's actually a tricky question,
on several levels. I considered counting the Watchers,
but wasn't sure how to classify them, so they're not
counted here. But there are either one, two, or more then
two to add. The more then two (maybes) are the orcs
that shot arrows killing two of Shagrat's lads. But since
they aren't mentioned again, and Sam and Frodo got out
without being shot, I suppose you could reasonably
assume they died after unloosing
the arrows? I've also come across a reference to "two"
survivors, and if you consider the question there
is another individual who presumably fits the criteria.

JennyHallu 03-09-2006 09:18 AM

The other would be the Witch-King, as he was away.

But if you admit that, then whatever of his own armies he took with him also survived. I always got the impression the main contingent based there had all left, and Minas Morgul was staffed by a smaller garrison.

Gil-Galad 03-09-2006 09:29 AM

well if the Witch-King is accepted then wouldn't Gothmog?

Tuor of Gondolin 03-09-2006 11:08 AM

A good point about the Witch-king of Angmar,
but I'm thinking of an orc. (Hint: when last
seen he wasn't very happy with his fellow orcs).

Here's the indication of two surviving orcs (from
Wikipedia)

Quote:

Shagrat was the Uruk in command of the tower of Cirith Ungol, which guarded a pass into Mordor. After the discovery of the unconscious Frodo, he had Frodo put into the highest room of the tower. In a dispute over Frodo's mithril-shirt, most of Shagrat's and Gorbag's Orcs were killed. Shagrat was one of only two Orc survivors. He took the mithril-shirt, as well as Frodo's Elven cloak and Sam's sword, to the Barad-dûr. These were used by the Mouth of Sauron as evidence of
P.S. I think I know the second orc, although if it's the one I'm
thinking of it's a bit of a trick question.

P.P.S. I don't think this reference to two survivors would refer to
Gorbag and Shagrat, since when they were alive Snaga, the
two orcs sent by Shagrat to Sauron, and the orcs firing arrows
at them were also still alive and it's hard to imagine a scenario
where just two of the above could be considered definitively
alive at the same time after fighting for the mthril-shirt.
(Sorry for any confusion here).

P.P.P.S. If there is dispute over the existence/name of this
other orc then Glirdan could be considered the (answrerer ?)
of the question.

Goldberry101 05-02-2006 02:03 PM

seven?

Goldberry101 05-02-2006 04:03 PM

Why is no one ever here? Well, anyway I think ten days have passed since the last question (if they haven't, then I'm sorry) so it is time for a new question.

How many children does Sam have?

Thinlómien 05-18-2006 07:53 AM

Oh, a random guess: 13?

Valier 06-02-2006 12:27 PM

Well since no one has been on here in awhile...Thinlomien your are correct! (I checked his family tree to be sure) Take it away!:D

Thank'ee, Valier. :D

Who was Edrahil?

Dimturiel 06-06-2006 08:50 AM

He was an Elf of Nargothrond who accompanied Finrod and Beren on their quest.

Actually, it's only been one day, so your question is cancelled out so Dimturiel can post one.
