Tjoho Melephelwen, where are you?

Melephelwen 12-02-2002 10:03 AM

No it's not Faramir.
And sorry for not replying, to be honest I forgot that my quote was up...
Should I tell who it is?

-Imrahil- 12-02-2002 11:34 AM

Tell so we can continue! I can't find it.

Eärendil 12-04-2002 03:16 AM

Me either. Or maybe I am not trying hard enough... Arwen? Beregond? Bergil? Denethor?

eleniwilwarin 12-06-2002 01:49 PM

Just a wild guess could it be Pippin? Really i have no idea.

Eärendil 12-09-2002 08:17 AM

Éowyn?
Anyway, this is getting slightly ridiculous.... Melephelwen?

Melephelwen 12-10-2002 01:56 PM

Aragorn. Sorry for being so long! Honestly!
And I won't be on the next week, so somebody else must go. And next time I do this stupid stuff, if I'm not "saying" anything in say, 3 days, just jump on to the next quote! Really, I didn't mean to be away!

Eärendil 12-11-2002 02:17 AM

Aragorn...doh. (Why didn´t I think of that?..)
Alright then, I am posting a new quote...:
Quote:

It´s in ROTK.

eleniwilwarin 12-14-2002 04:40 PM

wild guess Merry?

Laivine 12-15-2002 09:48 AM

Sounds like something Frodo says to Sam, in Mordor (obviously)...?! I might not be on in a while, so if I'm right and don't post a quote in 2 days, anyone can post..

Eärendil 12-16-2002 03:23 AM

You are correct Laivine. Please proceed.

Laivine 12-16-2002 12:45 PM

Quote:

Nei, tiden står aldri stille
Who said it, to whom, and what exactly where they talking about?! If you know you're right don't wait for me to confirm!

Eärendil 12-21-2002 03:32 PM

Um...a hint maybe? I reall don´t have a clue...

Eärendil 12-25-2002 09:50 AM

Laivine?

Laivine 12-26-2002 09:32 AM

Oh yes, sorry I haven't been on for a little while. It's in FotR, and not said by a man nor a hobbit. That should help

Nenya 12-28-2002 01:46 PM

Hey, what about quotes in finnish..? I know, I know, it isn't a germanic language, but Finland is afterall one of the Nordic countries, eh?
Damn. It just occured to me that noone except me could probably quote in finnish...

Anyways: This is just on tip of my tongue. *thinks hard*
Oh well, let us guess: Gandalf? In -*thinks even harder*- Bag End, to Frodo? Probably not, but it was worth the shot.

Eärendil 12-29-2002 05:54 AM

No, sorry, no quotes in Finnish. I have absolutely nothing against Finnish, but the language, as you said yourself, isn´t a Germanic language. The quotes should be in Swedish, Norweigan, Danish or Icelandic, as I stated when I started this thread.
Check out the Quotes in other languages-thread, there you can post quotes in Finnish.

Galadriel to somebody i dont know (just a guess)

Laivine 01-05-2003 09:26 AM

It is not Gandalf, nor Galadriel. Not so many options left now, hmmmm...

Eärendil 01-07-2003 04:34 AM

Legolas? I have no idea of who he would say it to though...Gimli?

Laivine 01-08-2003 12:43 PM

Indeed it was Legolas! And it's been such a long time since I posted my quote that I've completely forgotten to whom he spoke. He was talking about Lothlorien though, if my memory serves me correctly Your turn Eärendil!

Eärendil 01-14-2003 11:36 AM

Quote:

It's Haldir, when the fellowship arrives at the borders of Lorien - he say's he cannot let the dwarf pass.

Eärendil 01-15-2003 10:27 AM

That is very correct of course. Proceed.

mollecon 01-15-2003 07:12 PM

Quote:

The above is quoted from memory since I haven't got the books here - but it should be pretty accurate. I'll give hints if people find it hard. It's of course part of a remark made by one of the main characters in the books - but it's not in the movies.

Eärendil 01-16-2003 10:57 AM

Gandalf?

mollecon 01-16-2003 05:03 PM

Gandalf was there, yes - he was actually the one who this remark was directed at. Another hint: It's from "Fellowship...".

Laivine 01-18-2003 11:23 AM

I think it's Bilbo talking to Gandalf when he's leaving the Shire...? but it's been awhile since I read the fellowship so I wouldn't be surprised if im faaar off!

mollecon 01-18-2003 04:42 PM

LOL we're closing in - not Bilbo but a relative... Bilbo had left at the time of this conversation.

Eärendil 01-20-2003 10:44 AM

Frodo? It should be...

mollecon 01-20-2003 05:36 PM

Yup! You're right of course - Frodo speaking to Gandalf (after he realises he must leave The Shire) about how the Shire & it's people have often annoyed him so he wished they should experience a dragon attack!

Eärendil 01-28-2003 11:17 AM

Ok, I am finally posting a quote....
Quote:

Anyone? A clue perhaps?

Laivine 02-02-2003 12:19 PM

Is it Shagrat, talking to Snaga or something? I honestly haven't got a clue.

Eärendil 02-03-2003 02:59 AM

No, it is not Shagrat, but it IS an orc....

Lalaith 02-03-2003 04:49 AM

Ugluk!

Eärendil 02-04-2003 08:28 AM

Correctomundo! Proceed.

Lalaith 02-04-2003 05:39 PM

Quote:

Laivine 02-05-2003 09:58 AM

What kind of language is that?! :O Hehe. Is the quote something along the lines of "Og hvis alt fagerfolk drar til strendene, er det trist for de som blir igjen..." it kinda looked like that and i seem to remember a quote like that somehwere in the book, Sam or something..?

Lalaith 02-05-2003 10:47 AM

It is the Quenya to your Sindarin, my good Laivine.
As for your guess, the quote is correct but the speaker is not.
