One Ring - Worth it?

On Ebay at the moment there is a gold coloured solid metal official One Ring. It is 'Buy it now' at 3.99 and the p&p is 1.50.
I can afford it but is it really worth it? Any answers v. much appreciated.

I think it would be cool to have, but it's really up to you.

Take opportunities when you get them! Buy the ring. I mean, it's not like your buying an X-box box or something. What's to go wrong, it's only $4.00 dollars?
[ 12:01 PM December 07, 2003: Message edited by: The Perky Ent ]

If it is truely official it is a very cheap price. You can buy the official on Noble Collection for about $200 so I say if this is real you are getting a great deal.

Seriously, those things don't come cheap!

In my opinion I would say NO it isn't worth it. Now that the movies are out, this kind of merchandise is EVERYWHERE!
A friend of mine has a version of the One Ring given to him by his girlfriend about two years before the Fellowship movie came out. He's a longtime fan of the Lord of the Rings, and the ring was specially chosen and engraved with the elvish text. The engraver did an amazing job, by the way.
I think that there's too many "One Rings" out there now for them to be special. There's probably better things you could get to show your appreciation of the movie, that are a bit more unique or personal. Maybe something to do with your favourite character? I dunno...

Sure, why not, buy the One Ring. It's only a few dollars. However, you might regret it when you end up like Gollum, living in a cave, eating fish and talking constantly to yourself about your "precioussssss..." to pass the time (Sorry, I couldn't resist!)

Hey doug! Long time no see
I kind of have to agree about the whole rings everywhere thing. I have four one rings (a silver one, the bookmark one, the applause one, and a light up one). But I don't know, the one that they are selling on ebay is probably one that they either took off of one of the bookmarks or it is a really cheap one. I would probably instead try to search for one at a store in your area, support local businesses, they are around. The silver one I got came from a booth at Bumbershoot, a festival in Seattle. I would not spend my money on the 300 dollar ones thought. I think if I bought another one I would save my money and buy the non-engraved one from the jeweler in New Zealand who made the ones for the film (hopefully during a trip, that I will hopefully take sometime in the future).

I think you should wait until you see a version of Sting on Ebay that glitters blue whenever Orcs are near.

I wouldn't want the symbol of Evil and Temptation, wrought by the Dark Lord's hand! Let me know if you find a good Ring of Barahir in size 13, please. That's the baby I'm really looking for.

The Only Real Estel 12-08-2003 10:55 PM

Go for it. If it's only $4, you really can't go wrong. Although keep in mind that it's probably not the offical $200 verison that was mentioned above . But seriously, even a cheaper replica goes for $75-$150, & if it's cheaper than that, it's still worth the 4 bucks . Go for it!

ArathorofBarahir 12-09-2003 03:15 PM

Yeah buy it. But only buy it if you want it. Don't buy it just to be buying it just because it is the One Ring.

Fire-Galad 12-11-2003 08:03 PM

I agree. If you really want the ring, get it it's all up to you.

Eol Telemnar 12-12-2003 07:15 AM

I say you should get it. It does not come around to find "The One Ring" For $4! They are usually over $200! Go For It.

Finnguala 12-15-2003 01:21 PM

Yeah, buy it! It's only $5.49! So it doesn't matter if there's something wrong with it! ^^
[ 2:21 PM December 15, 2003: Message edited by: Finnguala ]
