Middle Earth brandnames

I just noticed the other day that my school sweatshirt was made by a company called 'masters of Buckland', and was wondering what kind of brand names for clothes people from middle earth might wear. Prehaps the riders of Rohan would wear 'Hausofel' (sp?) tops off duty? of well. Starnge example, i know.

Thorongil 03-22-2004 03:36 AM

On the inside of every Uruk-Hai Armor is printed: "Made in Orthanc" and "White Wizard Inc." :D

Nimrothiel 03-22-2004 01:35 PM

Well, seeing as there is a "Gap of Rohan," don't people already wear name-brand clothing from ME; specifically Rohan? ;) Maybe there could be "Took" clothing instead of "Guess?"

astarielle 03-22-2004 01:45 PM

i think that the shampoo 'Forest Fusions' by herbal essences is quite appropriate for those Elves who want to keep their hair soft and shiny.

Miriel Undomiel 03-22-2004 03:36 PM

Mudd

Ther is one brandname called mudd. Something for the orcses?

Silent Sam 03-26-2004 07:17 PM

cool

Took tuques :p
Yeah, I know, lame joke there

Or tabs on clothes saying "These products are not Hobbit tested"

Vilyon 04-03-2004 09:20 PM

Middle Earth Fast Food

Orcs eat at McSaurons(McDonalds), dwarves at Mountain King(Burger king), Elves at L.B.L(Lothlorien baked Lembas) and Hobbits at Bilbo's(Nandos)

Maeggaladiel 04-06-2004 01:17 PM

Heh heh!

The other day, I saw a chocolate crane (bird, not construction equiptment) made by a company called "The Rohan Chocolaterie." Who knew that Rohan exported more than just horses?

It was French or Itallian candy, so now I wonder if Rohan moved from New Zealand to mainland Europe? If so, what happened to Edoras?

Mmmmm, chocolate!
MAEG!

More Orc Brands

I posted this in another thread (The Great Orc Debate) but it also fits here.
Some different Orc/ Uruk Hai brand names:

"ORC" (GAP)
"Old Sharky" (Old Navy)
And just like GAP and Old Navy these two companies are always at eachothers necks, being that one is the orc's favorite while the Uruk Hai love the other. This usually starts most of the fights between the two armies.

ElenCala Isil 04-10-2004 11:51 AM

Well..there is this Greenleaf brand of potting soil I know of... yeah.

Old Sharky! :D that's great.

Morai 04-11-2004 06:06 PM

Why thank you ElenCala Isil! Hmm...lets see if I can think of more...

Eye See You Inc.
Made by the servants of Sauron of course. Probably some kind of eye contacts. "Bound to give you red cat eyes in just seconds! (May cause burning eye irritation.)"

And if you're hungry in houston, you can go eat at the hobbit hole!

Lalwendė 04-14-2004 01:58 PM

I saw a sign pointing to an outdoors clothing shop in Sheffield the other day, it said 'new Rohan range in stock'. I had visions of hikers toiling up Mam Tor dressed in armour and gauntlets, brandishing spears at sheep.

Marks & Spencers could relaunch as Morgoth & Saurons and re-market themselves as an alternative clothing shop with scary clothing based on rags and blood stained armour. I'd like to see some of their usual customers dressed like that, ho ho.

Halbarad's Candies (instead of Hammond's)

Morai 04-15-2004 04:26 PM

Let's see....
Sam Gamgee's (Sam Goody's)

I really think Tom Bomadil would bave a recording contract and his own line of yellow boots. He would also publish his own book Taming Willows

Miriel Undomiel 04-16-2004 07:39 AM

A girl in my class wore a sweater which had 'paragorn' printed on her chest. :)

Saraphim 04-17-2004 11:07 PM

Here in Vegas there is a restaraunt-bar named Bilbo's. No lie. They brew thier beer on-site, which is weird. I can't drink, being underage, but my dad says it's good. I do know that the potatoes are excellent.

Fake ones:
Shadowfax facsimile Co.
Galadriel High Definition T.V.'s
Turin Depression Medicine ("For when it just seems like the Dark Lord has cursed your family.")
Boromir Mortuaries ("We send your loved ones down a river in style.")
Denethor Cremitoriums

Another thing: Today a van passed me on the street, and it said "Elwing & co" on the side! :D

Beanamir of Gondor 05-10-2004 10:15 AM

I don't know, but around where I live there are about six "Greenleaf Cafe"s.

Trend?

High King Fingolfin 05-21-2004 03:34 PM

My mom once saw a van belonging to a company that repairs fax machines named Shadowfax. My sister and I have also seen advertising for Bag End Sound Productions, and have heard of a housing Co-op called LothLorien.

Sapphire_Flame 05-22-2004 10:22 AM

*The* fast-food place to go in Rohan is the Hornburger. I've heard they also have franchises in Minas Tirith and Bywater now.

Morai 05-23-2004 02:53 PM

Here's some more I've thought of:
"Gimli's" instead of "Lowe's". There you can find pracitcal home and cave improvement products. They also have high quality battle axes, and dwarf armor. Gimli's also has the rare Mithril by the brick.

Back to "Old Sharky." I think they would most likely sell staffs and white robes. Probably printed with the logo of the White Hand and the name Old Sharky printed on the sleeve.

tar-ancalime 05-23-2004 03:06 PM

a couple of groaners

Well, they got the animal wrong (it was sheep, not cows), but I'm quite certain that DAIRY QUEEN is a pathetic attempt to capitalize on the fame and popularity of Tar-Ancalime herself!

And I'd be very surprised if Cirdan didn't do all his shopping from the Lands' End catalog.

"Mirkwood Miracle Shampoo for Elves"

Wow, that puts some strange images into my head:
1) Liv Tyler in pig tails.

2)Elrond on the comercials saying "If they weren't good, I wouldn't have named them after my daughter."

3) An annoyed costumer saying "I wanted FRIES, not lembas!"

I'd be afraid for the dentists their to put my mouth to sleep. They could inject Ork Draught into my gums, or I might end up with a scar that never heals! I'd also make sure that I removed all jewelry before arriving, especially rings....
