Hello and where's Mount Gram ?
 

Hello from Rumil,

I've been occasionally lurking through here as a guest and keep coming back so often to read old threads that I thought I may as well join in.

My question regards Mount Gram, from whence came the Goblins of Golfimbul, defeated at the Battle of the Greenfields by Bullroarer Took.

Where is Mount Gram?

I've sort of assumed that its the Westernmost mountain of the chain running South of Angmar (Carn Dum being on the Northern end and the ex-Dwarven Mount Gundabad being in the East)

Is there any evidence for this? I can't see Mount Gram on the LoTR maps.

If its not there, can you suggest any other likely locations?

Welcome to the Downs! An interesting question. I believe that Mount Gram was one of the peaks included in the generic description, the "Misty Mountains." The Misty Mountains are one the map, but I also don't recall seeing Mount Gram.

According to the Atlas of Middle Earth Mount Gram was on a spur of the Misty Mountains to the north of the Ettenmoors.

(But I have to admit that I don't know where Fonstad got that. It may just be an educated guess.)

Mightn't "Mount Gram" be a hobbitish word for a mountain that goes by a different name also?
