Kill?

Basically, which character or characters annoy you the most... and why?

I personally would love to violently attack Turin, that curse made him one very unpleasant being. Incest for one, killing his best friend, being miserable most of the time... he's high in my respect as a warrior; but his character traits are really sullen.

The Might 07-31-2007 06:58 AM

Well...firstly I guess that as an opinion thread this should come in the Newcomers section.
Secondly...I guess I was most annoyed by Hurin. I mean, because of him both Gondolin and Doriath fell...I hate that guy.

Elmo 08-01-2007 07:41 AM

People I find hot, I usually don't want to kill......Does it have to be a book? Because I really want to kill Merry and Pippin when they bounce idiotically on Frodo's bed at the end of the Return:mad:

The Sixth Wizard 08-01-2007 07:53 AM

Ack, you're just killing off allies like Morgoth wants you to!

What we SHOULD be doing is uniting against the common enemy!

...

Gandalf uncloaking!

(sorry, couldn't help it)

shieldmaiden4xsword 08-03-2007 03:39 PM

some of those dwarves in the Silmarillion were really infuriating.

Yeah i kow what you mean, but The Hobbit had forced me take a massive liking to them. To be honest, i was annoyed that Tolkien practically left the Dwarves/Lake Town/Dale out of the LotR.

When Thingol was killed by them in that weak fashion; that made me snarl abit!

Galadriel55 11-19-2010 07:23 PM

To tell you the truth, although Turin and Hurin anoy me very much at times, I wouldn't want to try and kill them. :)
No, seriously. I find the fact that they can't do anything good very sad, and I was very moved by Narn i Hin Hurin.
I really wanted to strangle Thorin right before the Battle of 5 Armies or whatever its called (I've read the translation of TH, so I don't know half the names)
And speaking of that, I want to strangle all the translators who call Hama Gaima and Gollum Gorlum and change other names.

narfforc 11-20-2010 06:07 AM

I think that the Balrog would be quite hot with all that fire and smoke, or maybe Arien the Maia who was placed in charge of the sun, that would be the hottest.

Eomer of the Rohirrim 11-20-2010 05:46 PM

Legolas? ;)

Galadriel55 11-28-2010 03:02 PM

I have a question: what does being hot have anything to do with being annoying? Which characters are we supposed to talk about - hottest or most bothersome?

narfforc 11-30-2010 01:24 PM

I thought it had something to do with heat....

It appears to be a slang term which has not translated well. Unless someone puts a delightfully mirthful spin on things, this ain't gonna be no classic thread. :p

It was sort of funny to find this was a hit-list thread. Well, unexpected, anyway.

Galadriel55 01-05-2011 06:34 PM

Sometimes I really want to throttle that show-off Legolas in the movie, especially when he gets drunk with Gimli. That answer should cover both the "hot" and the "kill". :p

I was kind of being ironic with my first answer Eomer, maybe I was slightly sarcastic with my second :)

Urwen 01-07-2011 10:34 AM

Mine is... you guessed it, Maedhros. Kinslayer and my namesake killer. He deserves to die for all the deaths he caused...including Lalaith's death from the battle preparations he riled others on...

Andsigil 01-07-2011 02:29 PM

Maeglin.

In this family-friendly forum, I can't use words the words I'd like to use to describe how much I despise him.

Fair enough, I would also call him the hottest but for different reasons. :p

Since narfforc already thoughtfully offered the pun on balrogs and Arien, I won't venture that territory. Wondering though - could the hottest be the one with the hottest head?

Fëanor? Some of his sons? Túrin?

Very conscious of the fact that this makes several bearded old men hot too, though. So, friends, from now on, you are supposed to find Gandalf the Grey uncloaking... stimulating. ;)

Rikae 01-10-2011 05:04 PM

I always hated Eöl.

Galadriel55 01-10-2011 05:16 PM

Glaurung - just because. And also because he ruined the lives of three of my favorite characters (weeeellll..., considering I have about 50 favorites that doesn't say much... :p But Morwen, Turin, and Nienor really are some of my favourite-favourites. :D)

narfforc 01-12-2011 03:06 AM

Being serious (something I don't like to do too often), I think there is a translation problem going on here. Here in The Islands of the Mighty (Mabinogion), being 'HOT' is normally something a female would call a good looking bloke, so therefore to me the question looks like you are asking who I think is the best looking man or woman.

Mithalwen 01-12-2011 05:42 AM

I think they may have got hot list and hit list muddled...

Any way Hot - Finrod
Hit - Beren
Overheated - Sauron ..clearly eaten enough Ready-brek to fire up his jewellery..

That's true, but you could also take HOT literally, or interpret it in any way that'll fit the joke :p
