WW XCVII: Werewolves in the Westfold (Admin Thread)

As the Council of Elrond debates what to do with the Ring, Saruman begins his attack on Rohan. The town of Isenbridge is his first target, but rather than risk open war this early, he has sent werewolves to destroy it from within.

Unknown to Saruman, though, he's not the only wizard with an interest in this town...

Roles

Wolves (3): Kill one villager during the Night. May PM at Night.

Radagast the Brown (Seer): Talks to the animals every Night; they tell him/her the role of one villager.

Alatar and Pallando, the Blue Wizards (Cobblers): Attempt to interfere with the village by day, get the innocents lynched and protect the wolves. Can PM during the day, must be silent at Night.

Eomer or Eowyn (Ranger): May protect one villager during the Night.

Votes: Votes are not retractable. To be considered valid, each vote must be bolded and preceded by two plus signs, like this:
++My Invisible Friend Bob. In the event of a tie, the lynchee will be chosen at random from among the top vote-getters.

Other Rules: Anybody who does not post for an entire day or does not vote for two days in a row will be modfired unless they provide a good reason on the Admin Thread.

The deadline will be the same as the last game, 1pm GMT.

Ideally, I'd like 15 players for this game. We can work with less, but I may have to drop the new Cobbler idea if that happens.

Sign-ups may now begin. Including a role for yourself is recommended.

Villagers
Coppermirror: Toymaker
Eomer of the Rohirrim: Tavern lackey
Galadriel55: Half-deaf tapestry weaver
Inziladun: Baker
Kitanna: Cranky hermit
Nerwen: Horse trader of doubtful integrity
Nessa Telrunya: Midwife
Pitchwife: Grumpy old man
satansaloser2005: Wandering minstrel
Shastanis Althreduin: Wandering minstrel

satansaloser2005 06-25-2012 12:26 PM

Please put me down with a question mark; I'll be gone July 6-11, so my participation depends on when we start the game (aka hopefully after that).

I'll think about a role/occupation. Can I just be the town bicycle again? No? Just checking. :p

Galadriel55 06-25-2012 01:03 PM

I shall weave tapestries.

How can I miss this? :smokin:

Nerwen 06-26-2012 01:23 AM

Sign me up, please.:)

Eomer of the Rohirrim 06-26-2012 04:02 AM

Count me in! I'll be the suspicious wolf breeder.

Nah, I couldn't live up to that performance of Nilp's. ;) I'll be a tavern lackey.

Kitanna 06-26-2012 05:32 AM

I would like to play, but for now please put a question mark next to my name. If I can play or not depends on the DL.

Shastanis Althreduin 06-26-2012 05:45 AM

I'll sign up. Every village needs its very own wandering minstrel, right? :Merisu:

Oh man, those guys never tip...

Pitchwife 07-02-2012 08:05 AM

I'll be the grumpy old man who does nothing all day but sit on a bench in the sunshine and mutter about how everything was better when he was young.

Of course you will, dear. But what about the game?

Galadriel55 07-03-2012 04:56 PM

Bumping the thread up.

Meneltarmacil 07-04-2012 12:52 AM

Yes, seven players do not a village make.

Well, not unless you want them all to end up as wolf chow in short order.

satansaloser2005 07-04-2012 07:29 PM

This is just a reminder that I will be unable to wolf my were until at least the 11th (more likely the 13th, as I'll need time to recuperate). If the game starts before then, I will not be participating, but if we begin any time after that, I will be happy to play.

Given the last game, I think it's appropriate that I choose to be Shasta's partner in song. :Merisu:

Well, that way you're saving us a good many headaches about who to lynch. :p

Time permitting, my occupation will mean I'll be giving you headaches. I have a reputation to uphold, after all. :smokin:

You're right! Your voice is rather (in)famous. How could I forget that people would rather listen to crows' croaking than your and Shasta's duets? :Merisu:;):P

Maybe I should alter my own occupation a wee bit. I'll be a weaver who is half deaf. :smokin:

Meneltarmacil 07-11-2012 10:29 AM

As it seems clear that the game will start after the 13th, I think we can safely say that Sally will be able to participate.

That is, if the game gets started at all. We still need more people, and that means YOU, readers. I wish more people would sign up, but this game seems to have gone forgotten for a while now.

Correct, sir. I just returned to civilization this afternoon, and am itching for some Werewolf action. And more players, you say? I'm on it.

Eomer of the Rohirrim 07-13-2012 04:25 AM

Yup. Can't wait to slaughter those delicious villa.... I mean, can't wait to enforce justice on these horrible murderers. :smokin:

Inziladun 07-16-2012 12:59 PM

I was holding off signing up for this, since I knew it would be unwise for me to commit if the game was going on this week.

Since it looks unlikely we'll begin in less than 4-5 days, I'm in as the local baker.

I'd like to place an advance order for a dozen of your finest cupcakes, young sir.

Yes, madam. Sprinkles with that? The red ones are made from cows' eyeballs. :p

Meneltarmacil 07-16-2012 08:44 PM

Thank you for signing up, Inzil. I'd like to order a dozen scones while you're at it.

Galadriel55 07-16-2012 08:56 PM

For a second I read baker as banker, and I thought what on earth do cupcakes and scones have to do with it.

(Did I not choose the right occupation? Except that now it's more of a half-blindness than half-deafness.)

Galadriel55 07-18-2012 09:29 AM

I was hoping the game would start earlier. If it does not start, like, now (which it likely won't) I might have to drop out. :( In a couple of weeks I'm leaving for a week, then I'm back for a couple days and gone again, so I won't be able to play.

I'm still in if the number of players suddenly doubles in the next week or so, but if not...

Sorry guys. :(

Meneltarmacil 07-22-2012 09:57 PM

Guys, I don't know if this will work. I'm afraid we might be facing the end of Werewolf.

Nerwen 07-23-2012 02:07 AM

Menel, have you tried inviting people directly?

Inziladun 07-23-2012 07:52 AM

I think maybe the moot in the UK has a lot of the usual players occupied just now.
I wouldn't despair. Summer's usually a time with lower participation anyway, it seems.

satansaloser2005 07-23-2012 08:27 AM

Blasphemy. I'll see about twisting some arms.

Any luck?

Coppermirror 07-27-2012 04:20 AM

I would like to sign up, please.

For an occupation, I'll be a toymaker.

satansaloser2005 07-27-2012 03:26 PM

Hilariously, that newbie isn't mine. Hello though, and welcome! :)

I'm working on it. I am both awake and free this evening, so I'll try to get some more people on board.

Nerwen 07-27-2012 09:15 PM

Welcome to the Downs, Coppermirror! And thanks for signing up!:smokin:

Since, over the years, Barrowdowns Werewolf has developed its own jargon and so on, you might want to have a look at the general guidelines thread. Especially the Glossary section. Otherwise it can get confusing.

Coppermirror 07-27-2012 09:32 PM

Thanks for the warm welcome, satansaloser2005 and Nerwen. :) I'll look at the glossary for terms I don't recognise.

A friend who's been lurking here for years showed me this forum a month or so ago, and since then one of my hobbies has been reading the old Werewolf games in chronological order. Only got through about 12 of them so far. Once I noticed there was a game being planned right now (one with not enough players yet, no less!) I couldn't resist signing up. I look forward to playing with you all.

Galadriel55 07-27-2012 09:53 PM

Welcome indeed, Coppermirror! I commend you on your most honourable quest of reading old games and I wish you luck! Having posted only twice you're probably more of a werewolf expert than I am... :) Have fun this game!

I'm here for another week and a half. I think I will still have enough time to play if we start now, but I doubt it if it takes a week longer.

Thanks for your support. We may start this yet!

Also, welcome, Coppermirror and thank you for signing up. The wolves could definitely use some fresh meat.

Coppermirror 07-30-2012 08:37 AM

Nobody's had any luck finding more players? It must be a bad time of year. I'm afraid I haven't got anyone in mind to drag into it either, since the only person I could try is just too busy right now.

Quite. When I'm inevitably eaten by them, I hope I provide a delicious dinner at least. :)

Nessa Telrunya 07-31-2012 03:16 PM

Well, it's been quite a long time since I've gotten in on a game of WW! :p Sign me up, please! Let's see if I can continue my survivalist record, hm? ;)

I might make a fair midwife.

Historically midwives were the first to be targeted. Better watch that survival record. :p

I never picked a role, so cranky hermit it is.

Inziladun 08-03-2012 07:31 AM
