HELP SUPPORT LOTR!!!!!

There are these all these people, both at my school and in my general area, who not only hate Lord of the Rings (and similar Tolkien works) but mock and abuse me and my friends for liking it! (Which is NOT fair, what about our basic right to like something and not get put down for it?)
Please post reasons why Lord of the Rings etc. is cool and, there will be proof that people other than so-called "unpopular" people like LotR.

Tell them if they are "threatend" enough by a book series and movie and are so low to mock someone that for liking it, Literaly, tell them that they don't have much of a life if that is what they do. Also point out the fact that they themselves don't have anything like LOTR with other friends so they are envious and they are mocking you because they want to have something like that but don't. It's all in the head.

There are a bunch of people at my school who really like LotR, but my friends and I leave them in the dust when it comes to obsession! One guy loves it, but he's basically decided that he won't show that he likes anything that I really like in front of me. Instead, he disses it and talks to his friends (about it). There are a couple of things you could do. If you are feeling like you just want to tell them how you feel, no matter what they think about you later, then I suggest finding a good quote (or make up a Tolkienesque one, they'll never know!) and telling it to them:
The wisdom of the Valar hath past you by, my friends!
Ok, maybe not that cheesy, but its all I could come up with
Mornie Alantie's strategy is good too. It'll probably give them a better impression of you (but could be less fun )

ignore it. just go out of your way to make yourselves as lotr-like as possible: ie. elvish hair, elven/whatever jewellery, lotr pictures stuck on all your things. make sure its always visible, perhaps even carry a copy of lotr with you constantly in your hand so everyone knows. ignore anyones comments and think to yourself just how superior and elite you are. i know im better than everyone i know because i think that way. that way any comments wash right over me (not that anyone makes any in particular).

Don't you already do that? I do....

My copy is perhaps not the most practical to carry around. It has swollen to about twice its original size through being left out in the rain. Anyway, it sounds like a good idea.

I'm on the lookout for an Elvish-type dress which I can wear next non-school uniform day, that'll show them!

i try and dress as much like lotr characters as i can. mostly like eowyn or faramir or aragorn. its fun i dressed like eowyn when i went to see ttt once. the ticket woman looked at me a bit oddly cos i had a band across my head an' all. i almost burst out laughing in front of her.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! Me and my friends will try this out and then laugh at the results! Hah yeh they are probably jealous of us because we have a lot more fun at school than they do..

Why should you care what they think of LotR? Just ignore them, it's useless to argue with them and it's not worth your breath, besides, they won't understand why you like it or why they're even wrong. Here's a related thread Tired of being attacked!!!(or The Defense of Fantasy).
