Encyclopedia of Arda entry

As always, the best way to learn about such matters is reading the books.

Well, he was the King of Angmar and is the Chieftain of the Nazgul, Is Sauron's most powerful servent, and was killed by Eowyn and Merry.
and thats pretty much the Witch King in a nutshell...
*Morgul is seen holding a nutshell with some very high pitched screams coming out of it*

The Witch-King (my favorite character) is the leader of the 9 ringwraiths. He is the Lord of Angmar, and is one of Sauron's most loyal and trusted servants. He led the host of Minas Morgul (Minas Ithil) against the defenders of Minas Tirith. There, the Witch King had a showdown with Gandalf, who was reduced to a sniveling bottom-feeder. The Witch-King was then in the process of slaying Eowyn when the cowardly hobbit named Merry stabbed him in the back of the leg FROM BEHIND. There goes the Witch-King, unfairly defeated by a coward. :)

Only in the movies.

I wouldn't call Merry a coward. He was under a Mumak and pretty much dazed and shell shocked and then he snapped out of it and pretty much went "I have to save Eowyn!"
