Insignias, Crests whatever of the Elves.....
 

On th side of my map of Beleriand book there are these symbols,crests whaever they are called, of the Elves or Men i'm not sure.
Anyway i was wondering who they are of or what are they?
EG:There is one which is a circle its flowery in blue-green colours its looks like the one on the cover of the Sil except lighter coloured, anyway I think someone told me its the sign of Luthien?there is another one like it in Black, and bright colours.
Also there is one in the shape of a Square on its edge ie a Diamond Its Blue with white stars on it i think its supposed to be Gil-Galad?
For ppl who have the Sil box set there is a piece of paper i think with the names of the symbols on them so u might know...
Anyway pleeze help.Any info on any of the crests is welcome

Tolkien drew a number of those for various people and houses of the First Age mainly. These drawings appear in the book of pictures by JRR Tolkien.

I also suggest having a look at THIS, busybee.

The first two you mention are both for Luthien. The last is Gil-Galad, I believe.

Those are from the site that I had linked to earlier, that was removed. I really don't understand what Sharku means in the insert in my last post either. Perhaps we are not supposed to go to that site or something.

I would suggest the site has illegally copied the pics with out permission from the Tolkien estate.

Also direct linking to another web page is illegal as each time someone views the pictures the host is paying for it. That is why you should save the pics to your own server first ( by server I am talking about web host not your hard drive) and then post them.

Complete scanned books of Tolkien on a Russian site = against copyright.

Not being acquainted with the site myself, I was unaware that they had posted the whole book; I assumed it was just the pictures used which is also bad. I believe that you are legally permitted 2 pages or 10% which ever is the lesser amount for personal use only. But I am not 100% on that so to be safe never use any data without prier permission first from the owner.

since USSR joined international copyright protection assembly (or something similar, I'm not quite sure of the nomenclature) in May, 1973, books published prior to this date in the original language were considered as legal for publishing in translation without buying rights or any additional negotiations. I don't know current legal situation in Russia concerning that matter, though.

All i know is that you get a lot of pirated videos and CD's in Russia eg:All the Sims for 2pounds!
Also randomly I heard somewhere you can get LOTR skins.....is it true??There probably is a Topic on this..........
