I'm just getting into the LotR universe, need suggestions on what books to read.

One night I was bored, so I decided to read the Hobbit, and I loved it. I'm half way through the second book of the trilogy.

I think this should be moved to the Newcomers and Novice-Forum, but I'm not sure, because I'm new as well *g*.

The next logical step would be to read the Silmarillion and after that The Unfinished Tales. If you're then still interested and want to know everything, you should read Tolkien's Letters or his biography. The last step for every hardcore fan is, in my opinion, to read the 12 parts of The History of Middle-Earth.

Just thought I'd jump in here before this thread gets shut down.

A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun
Enjoy!!

Good advice, Witch-King - I couldn't have said it better! And yes, this thread does belong on the Novices and Newcomers forum.

A big warm welcome to you, metronome!!
I'm relativly new to Tolkien myself. I started reading LOTR in August, read the Hobbit after I finished, and am now re-reading the LOTR books, in hopes of finishing The Two Towers before the movie comes out. How are you liking Lord of the Rings thus far? I personally loved it! Have you seen the Fellowship of the Ring movie yet? It's awesome! I saw it the day after I started reading the book, and can't wait for the next movie to come out! December 18!! Well, hope you enjoy it here! Have fun being dead! Oh, but be careful what you read on here, as some of the posts will give away the story! So unless you don't mind spoilers, be careful!!
