Beren, Luthien and Big-Mac
There is an interesting statement in QS77. After their return from Mandos:
Quote:
Beren and Luthien fear no thirst not hunger, but the reason is not given. There may be 2 explanations, I think: A) After resurrection their bodies are so changed they need nourishment no more at all B) They minds are become too noble to bother themselves with such trifles (cf Frodo in Mordor, careless, but he had Sam to depend on and trusted him in such matters as provisions etc). They still eat and drink, yet motto is “let it be”. They are become as “birds of heaven” (btw, another christian hint with JRRT) I deem B version more likely to be true, yet it would be interesting to hear what others have to say about the subject [ August 07, 2002: Message edited by: HerenIstarion ] |
I imagine B also.
It seems the green elves took a liking to them, so perhaps they played the part of 'Sam' |
I would agree that b seems like the logical choice between the two.

I agree with B. It seemes logical...

B seems most likely to be it. the reason being that they'd rather have nothing get in ther way. (a follow up to the 'let it be' statement)

As everybody agrees, I assume it was obvious from the beggining, therefore the thread fall s under Barrow-Downs new forum policies restrictions. what a pity
