If a dwarf came to your door, what would be the first three things you would do?

For me, it would be: (1): See if they really dont like to get thrown. (2) Let them in, and ask them to apraise some jewlery. (3) I would ask them to show me one of their mines.

I would 1. ask them to show me how their art is performed and for them to teach me 2. ask them to make me something completely origional 3. and then ask them to marry me (if it was a male dwarf )

orlandoandsaran 08-09-2002 09:40 AM

Hmm.....
I would:
1: Ask them to put their hand print on some cement coz it's not everyday you get to see a drawf!

2: Show me to their mines and try to get some mithril or treasure from them...if they're really nice..

3: Ask them to make all sorts of garments like rings, necklaces, or clothes.

Gimli Son Of Gloin 08-09-2002 11:08 AM

Say 'Hello Brother Dwarf!'

The Green Ringwraith 08-09-2002 11:45 AM

1. Take pictures
2. Gather all my LOTR friends.
3. Get a coat of mithril.
4. Bring him to school and scare the living shizat out of my teachers.

gollum*elf*pup 08-09-2002 12:27 PM

bring him inside and feed him toasted hobbit feet. and oh, i dunno, take pictures.

randycarrot 08-09-2002 12:28 PM

1: stare
2: give him some cheese
3: ask him if im his daughter (i am short...ish)

The Silver-shod Muse 08-09-2002 04:07 PM

1. Laugh hysterically

2. Slam the door

Marileangorifurnimaluim 08-09-2002 08:19 PM

I'm afraid I don't really manage these sorts of things very well.

I would probably just stand there blinking.

Dwarves being taciturn, he would likely just stare back.

We would stare at eachother for a while.

Then he finally give up and walk off. I'd go back to my cornflakes, not knowing what else to do. And that would be that.

I would tell my friends at the office later that day "there was a dwarf at my door this morning." "Wow! What did you do?"

Uh.

Ithaeliel 08-09-2002 09:10 PM

I would

1) Stand with my jaw dropped and try to figure out if I'm seeing things.
2)Politely invite him in.
3) Take a picture. It'll last longer.

Samwise 08-09-2002 09:24 PM

Hm.
1) Pick my lower jaw up of the floor. http://www.plauder-smilies.de/eek2.gif

2)Once I had collected myself, ask if he knew
Gimli (the original). http://www.plauder-smilies.de/sad/confusedpp.gif

3)If he did, ask if he'd heard from Gimli
and, in turn, if Gimli had heard from Frodo
or Sam! http://www.plauder-smilies.de/rotwerd.gif

"There was a lot more," said Sam, "all about Mordor. I didn't learn that part, it gave me the shivers. "

Ladriel 08-09-2002 10:46 PM

1. I would invite the dwarf in and have him tell me stories about adventures he's been in.
2. Have him make me something.
3. Take pictures
4. compare his height with my mom, who is pretty short

Lostgaeriel 08-10-2002 12:28 AM

Well, first of all, I should hope I would remember my manners...When the dwarf bows and says '- at your service!', I would bow and reply 'Lostgaeriel at yours and your family's!' (Bilbo is such a good role-model for etiquette.)

Then I should offer refreshments: tea, coffee, beer, ale, red wine, seed-cake, buttered scones, raspberry jam and apple-tart, mince-pies and cheese, pork-pie and salad, eggs, cold chicken and pickles,...(Gee, I get so very hungry when I read The Hobbit and tLotR.)

Finally, I would try to get myself invited to go on a treasure hunt/burglary/adventure with this dwarf. (Bound to get a nice piece of jewellery out of that.)

Feanor 08-10-2002 01:07 AM

hey! that's a hard one! ummm...first, i'll ask them to build me a new place under a hill since they're good at that, right?

second, i'll ask them to teach me their crafts especially in making axes.

third, of course, i'll make them my slaves. hahahaha! just kidding

HerenIstarion 08-10-2002 01:17 AM

1. Ask what does he want
2. Ask the reason why he applies to me in this desire
3. Depending on the conclusions driven out of first two actions, let him in or shut the door

Tarthang 08-10-2002 04:55 AM

1. Place myself at his service
2. Offer him a weizen
3. Let my wife know one of her long lost cousins had arrived for a visit (she's a little on the short side)

Shadow of Udûn 08-10-2002 05:06 AM

1. Ask him if he's related to Tom Cruise.
2. Tie him up and use him as a hat stand.
3. Tease him with an electric shaver.

Lady_Báin 08-10-2002 11:57 AM

whats a weizen?

Halbereth Diagona 08-10-2002 11:57 AM

Screw my face up, plug my nose and slam the door.

Lady_Báin 08-10-2002 11:58 AM

whats a weizen?

Ithaeliel 08-10-2002 09:00 PM

I would assume he means a raisin, though what do I know?

Valesse 08-10-2002 10:16 PM

I would:

1) Open the door, look around(not seeing the dwarf) and, slam the door cussing loudly.(in thus they pound on the door again)

2) Open the door(notice them this time), tell them I'm not interested in purchasing new carpet, carpet cleaner, brushes, make-up, religion, brass cleaner, silver cleaner, GOLD cleaner(at this they would perk up) or new travel luggage equipment.(I would think they would then push their way into my hole and search for their gold, but find very little...)

3)Seeing that they meant no harm, I would give all of the visiting dwrfs to my friend who always ask me to walk on my knees when I'm near her (Due to a height complex she has I guess...)

ElfEarz 08-10-2002 10:56 PM

lets see i would 1)gasp 2)ask him if he was related to bifur 3)make him show me around his mine

Demloth of Dol Amroth 08-10-2002 11:03 PM

i'd say wait a minute, haven't i seen a topic like this one somewhere before? hmm, how strange. then i'd call the hobbit who came to my door earlier to see who just dropped in, then we'd all go off and steal a gold horde guarded by a fierce dragon and...wait, i'm getting mixed up again aren't i? eh no matter-i'll come back once i've had a few pepsis to jump start my brain.

Dimaldaeon 08-11-2002 06:42 AM

1:Turn around and say to my sister "Look Anne, it's amazing ,there is actually someone shorter then you"
2:Show him how to make findruine if he showed me how to make armour and weapons.
3:Show him the way to the Silvermine Mountains and ask him if he knew where I could find deargór.

ringdaemon 08-11-2002 07:00 AM

1. Blink, smile slowly and ask the dwarf who sent him.
2. Laugh for a bit, and shut the door.
3. After a while, I would peek round to see if the dwarf is still there. If so, I would invite him inside, give him hot tea and watch him splutter through his beard. These things amuse me.

Samwise 08-11-2002 09:15 PM

NazgulNumberTen 08-11-2002 09:20 PM

if a dwarf came to my door?
i'd hit 'em with a frying pan and shave his beared when he is knocked out.

Ringwraith Number Two 08-12-2002 09:52 AM

What would I do? Well, I'd take a good long look at the intricate patterns the braids weave in the dwarf's beard, laugh, and slam the door for no reason at all

suicidal elf chick 08-12-2002 02:18 PM

1: I'd hit him on the head with the biggest frying pan I've got.
2: Steal all his stuff
3: Cut of his beard
4: Send him out the door and in front of my neighbor's door.

Nevfeniel 08-12-2002 06:09 PM

Why are people being so mean to the dwarves? Anyhoo, I would
1)stare for a few seconds, dumbfounded
2)ask if he wants to come in
3)show him to the pantry

Aranel 08-14-2002 11:30 AM

First off, suicidal elf chick really DOES sound suicidal in that post! Judging from the Hobbit,I'd:
1 look for more dwarves
2 since they tend to let themselves in and help themselves too,I'd just make sure I had plenty of seed cakes on hand and let him get to the point on his own time.Because I can't see that a dwarf would visit me without a purpose.
3Be as friendly as possible and hope he didn't want me to help with any dragons.

Aroaraniel 08-14-2002 11:56 AM

I'd probably do the similar to Samwise's...

Ask him if he knew Gimli, and if he had heard from Frodo, Merry, or Pippin...heehee

Limlaith 08-14-2002 01:59 PM

This is my very first post here. But I know how I would treat a dwarf.

I would invite him in, after staring at him for a while.

Then I would feed him and ask him how I could help him.

But most importantly, I would ask if I could come with him and learn all he could teach me of his craft. No doubt that whatever he could offer would be far more interesting than the normal life I presently lead!

Lothlória 08-15-2002 09:14 AM

Tell him that it was an honour to me and my family to serve him and lead him in
Bring him a lot of cakes, tea and all this stuff
Put a harp in front of him and ask him to play some of his people`s songs

suicidal elf chick 08-16-2002 05:32 AM

*grins stupidly* Why thank you, Aranel!

Thinhyandoiel 08-17-2002 03:50 AM

A dwarf walks up to MY door? How odd...but my expected reaction would be to firstly peek through the peephole. Upon seeing no one I would then proceed to the nearest window and take a peek outside. (A suspicious folk, my family. ) After seeing that there is a person at the door, I would open it, ask him what he wants, and then see how I could help him. If I have the time, I'd take a picture and, being the courteous person that I am, give him directions to all five liqour stores in my neighbourhood and tell him to bring some hobbits and elves with him next time.

Lady_Elf 08-17-2002 09:28 AM

1)I would ask them questions of their presence and why are they at my house.
2)I would invite them in, make them feel welcome if I am satisfied with their answers.
3)Ask them to take me on a journey of Middle - Earth.

Guildo 08-17-2002 06:27 PM

1. start singing "chip the glasses crack the plates thats what Bilbo Baggins hates.

2. Feed him.

3. ask him Directions to Bag End.

Davin 08-17-2002 11:02 PM

1. I'd laugh thinking it was a joke
2. Then when I realized that it was real....I would probably mess myself (uuuugh)
3. I'd apologize for not inviting them in right away....and I'd ask them where I can get a beard like theirs....
