Just wondering...

Well, humans and elves can reproduce together can't they?
So, I was wondering, do you think that hobbits and humans could reproduce together too?

I don't think it's ever happened but I'm curious as to if it'd be possible. :/ Maybe we don't really know but what do you think?

I'd guess that it's possible since they are quite similar to each other.
It would probably be a little weird though to see a pairing of a human and a hobbit though since there'd be such a height difference. ^^

Anyways, I hope this is the right forum for a topic like this. If it isn't then someone can move it.

Hobbits and humans are from similar races, there is no reason they couldn't reproduce.

Genetically they could, as hobbits are in origin humans, as i understand it. However it would probably be fatal for a hobbit lass to carry a half-human child. Not to mention their general distrust of the Big People.

So technically yes, but they probably wouldn't.

So the female would probably have to be the human and the male the hobbit most likely?

And I agree that they probably wouldn't...it'd probably be a rare occurance if it ever happened.

Well, thanks for replying though. ^_^ At first I didn't think anyone was going to. :/

How about hobbits and elves? I think I read somewhere a fanfic with this improbable storyline.

But then again, think of the Tooks ancestors who are said to have married a 'fairy'.
