Where in relation to middle earth is Beleriand??
|
Hi Turin,
Check this out:Map Beleriand is the blue land to the west of ME. Hope that helps you out a bit |
Its to the west of ered luin (blue mountains). Thats right up in the top left hand corner of the ususual ME map that you would see in LotR.Map of Beleriand
Maybe its useful. Also take a look at Encyclopaedia of Ardafor loadsa information that may help you. Hope its been useful |
Actually Numenorians map is far more detailed, so take a look at his. Although it may take a while to download if your on a 56k, i'm on broadband and its taking a while. The map i have linked to is far smaller but no way near as detailed.
Your choice. |
The Numenorian's map is wrong. The scales of the LotR an the Silmarillion maps are different. You have to scale down the Beleriand map so that it matches the LotR map. Harlindon is essentially Ossiriand, Forlindon is Thargelion, and the Gulf of Lune is where Mt Dolmed was in the first age.

Attached to the northwest corner, just above the Grey Havens in Lindon. It was covered by water at the end of the First Age.

Noticed how there are sort of "boxes" in Middle-Earth's map? The first "box" is the area between the Blue Mountains and the Misty Mountains, and the second one is from the Misty Mountains to the Sea of Rhûn. Beleriand was about the same size as that first box. I've always thought it like that.
Himring is the same as Himling, that small island which is shown in some of the maps. Scale it down so that it, and the one's Ailios mentioned fit. Numenorean's map shows Beleriand being much too large. |
A very fundamental and easily-answered question. Moving to N&N.
