Elvish translations

I'm wondering if this should have gone in the Novices and Newcomers section, but anywho... can someone please help me translate two phrases into Sindarian?

You have no power over me

and

What did you say?

The closest I could get to the 2nd is "aniron veriad daer" which is "I wish your word". No ideas on the 2nd one. Thanks in advance, guys.

Quenya:
Haryal[yë] úmáhan or inyë
[lit.: You have no authority over me]

(the best I could come up with)

Man equetiel?
[lit.: What have you said?]

This is an interesting topic. I have long tried to learn some Elvish but I have almost nothing to work with. If any one could point me to some good books or something I would be greatfull.

I have almost learned how to write in Elvish but as far as language go I have not made much progress.

So if anyone could help me out, please do so. Thanks, Namarie

There are quite a few topics about this, so if you want a range of sites or books you can check out some of those. I don't know anything about books regarding elvish languages, but if you do a search you'll come up with loads of good websites. You'll probably often hear the warning- stay away from the Grey Company. They kinda made up their own elvish.
I'd reccommend Council of Elrond
You have to register, but then you can use their worksheets- which are marked by the mods, lessons, phrases etc.
Good luck.

Suilad to All,

For Elvish Lessons you go to;

The Council of Elrond for Sindarin, on the right-hand side index once you have brought up the website, you then go the Languages and Workbook, which has the Sindarin Lessons, you are better to register and therefore you can ask for help, in their Forum Elvish101.

Council Of Elrond

For Quenya you go to Ardalambion, you come to About Quenya and Quenya course and download the lessons.

Ardalambion

I hope that helps those searching who want to learn Tolkiens Languages.

Actually, What did you say? would translate to Man pedich? You have to congugate the verb correctly, you know.
