Beasts and monsters?

Accurately, how many beasts and monsters were there in Lord of the Rings? And did they possess powers or strength? And did they slay any elve or human or dwarf etc?

Try going to the Encyclopedia of Arda. You'll find all sorts of information. Try looking in any of the race sections towards the bottom, or plants and animals under the miscellaneous section, farther towards the bottom.

They did slay a many a Man, Elf, etc. There are many beasts though, but generally they were jsut they same as what is real. There were however, all the ones you already know, i.e. dragons, orcs, over-sized eagles, and so on.

If your looking for another reference...try the Annals of Arda Encyclopedia (the link is on the spot you should want to search in) It has a lot of information as well

I'd say the Balrogs were on a wild spree to slay Men and Elves!

It all depends on what you would call a "beast." Could you expand on your definition?

Finwe, I think Nil means 'beasts' as in the creatures of Middle-earth (trolls, Balrogs, dragons etc)
