Favorite elf, or which elf is better then another elf
 

who do you think was better, Gil-Galad or Elrond?

"Favorite" topics belong on the Novices and Newcomers forum. I'm moving this one there for now, but you might want to check out the previous "favorite" threads by using the search function (upper right of page on the N&N forum). It's possible that a "favorite Elf" thread already exists.

Since I haven't read the Sil yet I don't know too much about Gil-Gald so I will have to say Elrond.

uh, Gil Galad for sure. But for my fav. elf is Glorfindel.

i like them all... I would normally say especially Legolas but i was ranting at someone earlier for saying Legolas was the best member of the fellowship just because he's played by Orli Bloom so I won't be a hypocrite here. all elves are cool. yep.

Elrond is better.

In The Silmarillion, Finwë is my favorite Elf (d'oh!) with Fëanor coming in a very close second.


Between Gil-galad and Elrond, I'd say that Gil-galad was the "better" Elf, but it depends on your definition of "better." Do you mean "mightier, wiser, etc." A little clarification would be in due order.

Of course you are right, Finwe. A little clarification is needed. I was merely facetiously exemplifying the level of deep thought that goes on in these threads. Sorry for being so cynical. Its late, and I get this way when I am tired. [img]smilies/evil.gif[/img]

Hmm...I was always partial to the warrior kings, so my fave would probably be Gil-Galad.

Same here, StarJewel. Go warrior kings! I'm partial to Gil-galad over Elrond.

But if you wanna talk COOLEST ELF EVER, let's talk about Feanor. Finwe, you've got the right idea. Finwe and Feanor are coolness incarnate.

Like I've said before, I love me some Feanor.

Soo true. So, I guess I´d go for Gil Galad as well. It´s too bad we never find out more about him exept for some short notes. Or am I mistaken here?

Gil-Galad is WAY better than elrond

Why not go to the topic on favorit noldorin kings. Elrond is not included, but he was not great anyway. Just my opinion.

I must say that Gil-galad may be better than Elrond, but i am partial to say that my favourite is Cirdan. He made boats [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] ...

But anyway, he was very wise to give Gandalf his ring, because how would a ring of power help to build ships. OK it might help to build them quicker, but ships that help Elves flee Middle Earth aren' going to help the other peoples of ME break free from evil are they?

Good point. Never crossed my mind. Elves in general are cool, but Legolas is my favorite. Not because of Orlando Bloom, although he was good. [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img]

I vote for Gil-galad, but my favorite Elf is Galadriel.

I of course like Gil-Galad, but i also like Fingon and Turgon.. i think that Thranduil showed too much relation to Thingol

I think Feanor could have been the "greatest" Elf, if not for Morgoth's lies that corrputed him. Then again, maybe he was too corruptable from the start. Fingolfin might be my favorite too - after all he did challenge Morgoth one on one.

I`d probably have to say Gil-galad is my favorite, though not by far. Personally, I like Elladan and Elrohir are my favorites. [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]

I think Gil-Galad was more powerful, and probably wiser, but I quite like Elrond best, specially in the films.
Anyway, my favourite Elf is Gildor, though I don´t know why, I suppose I just liked the way he talked when he met Frodo
