Top 10ish

OK, I want to know, not who you like the most, or dislike, or think should get a reward, but I want the top 10 most POWERFUL beings in these catagories-

Evil (anything goes, such as morgoth, sauron, nazgul, or an orc captain)

Elves

Humans (only 'good guys', please)

Lord of Angmar 12-29-2003 08:47 PM

Morgoth and Manwe, followed by probably just about all of the Valar, are the most powerful beings, unless Eru Iluvatar Himself is counted. As individuals, their means for reshaping, ordering, affecting or, in the case of Morgoth, destroying the world are greater than those of all others.

[EDIT] My mistake, I did not read your post carefully enough. Terribly sorry

Here goes:

Evil:
1. Morgoth
2. Sauron
3. Glaurung
4. Carcharoth (with Silmaril)
5. Ungoliant
6. Ancalagon
7. Gothmog Lord of Balrogs
8. Other Dragons/Balrogs
9. Witch King of Angmar/Ringwraiths
10. Ar-Pharazon
11. Saruman
12. Tom Bombadil

Elves:
1. Luthien
2. Feanor
3. Fingolfin
4. Earendil
5. Galadriel
6. Finrod Felagund
7. Turgon
8. Elrond Halfelven
9. Gil-galad
10. Sons of Feanor

Men:
1. Turin Turambar
2. Beren
3. Aragorn
4. Hurin
5. Tuor
6. Elendil
7. Isildur/Anarion
8. Faramir
9. Boromir
10. Barahir

It may be (as is often the case) that I have forgotten someone crucial. Let me know if you think so, or if you would like any explanation for any of my choices.

Cheers,
Angmar

was Carcharoth evil?

Lord of Angmar 12-29-2003 10:22 PM

Yes, he was.

Quote:

Swiftly the wolf grew, until he could creep into no den, but lay huge and hungry before the feet of Morgoth. There the fire and anguish of hell entered into him, and he became filled with a devouring spirit, tormented, terrible, and strong. Carcharoth, the Red Maw, he is named in the tales of those days, and Anfauglir, the Jaws of Thirst. (Quenta Silmarillion, "Beren and Luthien")
Sound evil enough? And he only got worse when he downed the Silmaril, Beren's hand and all.

I don't really see a point in arguing with definite statements in the books, such as Luthien being the most powerful of all Eldar. So bear those in mind; do a forum search for 'most powerful' if you need to read up on the who is who.

Tuor Turambar,Cursed by the Valar 12-30-2003 11:44 AM

Well, there may not be a point in that, but i want to find people's opinions on the subject of second, third and so on.
The main reason I started this thread is as a poll, to find out who belongs on the list. For example, I was suprised Gothmog rated so low.
This is not about finding out the most powerful, but finding people's opinions on the ranking of the beings in ME.
