LOTR Avatars

Ok, let me get this straight, I'm not a newcomer or novice to Tolkien.

But I didn't know where else to ask...

Where is a good site for me to get LOTR avatars, or is there anyone here who can make them?

Oh, well, just type in a link to a pic. Wallpaper works the best.

miellien 10-13-2003 10:39 PM

Oh, good. Now I don't have to start this topic. However, I am such a computer newbie that I do not have the slightest idea how to get an image from here to there (and not back again!). If anybody would like to PM me with instructions, I would really appreciate it!

A little summary about moving images from a site to another...

1. When you find a nice pic, click it with the right button of the mouse.
2.A box appears with different funktions -> select "properties".
3.A window appears with information of the pic. There's also the URL of the pic. Select that URL and click the right button of the mouse.
4.A box appears -> select "copy".
5.Then go to the site you want to e.g. The Barrow-Downs.
If you want a image in your post, click that grey "image" button and then the right button of the mouse in the window that appears and select "paste".

Very confusing explanation, sorry. I tried, honestly.

Here's a link to a site I usually get mine from. It has a lot of good pictures for avatars. Just click on the name of the character you want.

Hope this helps!

Ok, we'll have to look to the left and see if Dancing Spawn and Arwen's advice worked. If it did, thanksfolks! If it didn't, I will blame it ALL on my computer!

Arwen1858 10-15-2003 01:07 PM

miellien, I can see your avatar! Very good Just thought I'd let you know!

Your Avatar's cool meillen. Like it a lot.
Anybody ever heard of the band Superchic[k]?
That's what my avatar is.

miellien 10-17-2003 12:08 AM

Yay, it worked! Thanks everybody!

kittygirl02 10-17-2003 07:40 AM

You're welcome.
*smiles at the lovely avatar*

Alatariel 10-17-2003 12:06 PM

Ok...so I have followed all of dancing spawn's instructions, and it is still not working! Is there something else I am supposed to type in after the address or does my computer just hate me?

Elennar Starfire 10-17-2003 12:33 PM

No, there's nothing else you have to type. I noticed with my first attempt at an avatar that if the address of the picture is too long, it will not work. Try a picture with a shorter address.

dancing spawn of ungoliant 10-17-2003 02:09 PM

At least my avatar didn't appear until I posted a few times. My second avatar just didn't work...maybe the pic was wrong kind or something. Finally I ended up with this Gollum avatar which is from the page that Arwen1858 posted.

kittygirl02 10-17-2003 03:20 PM

Yeah, it took me seven times for an avatar to work for me. Superchic[k] has been my savior...espeshially whence it comes to being suicidal.

Alatariel 10-18-2003 07:42 AM

Hey...look at that - it actually worked! Thanks for the tips! (though I think I might choose another picture b/c it's all squished)

Jack 10-19-2003 11:05 AM

Hi kitty Love you S[k] Avatar!!

kittygirl02 10-19-2003 03:06 PM

Thank you.*smiles*
I tries at least seven before I found one that worked. So I'm glad you got yours to work, it's frustrating.

Elwen_starmaiden 10-19-2003 03:31 PM

I used one from Arwen's site but I'm not sure it worked.

Ok it did. yay!
