LotR: Lord of the Rebus
 

A rebus is a puzzle where pictures, letters, or numbers stand for words or parts of words. This game would be a little different, as it involves addition and subtraction, and it involves LotR-related stuff.

Example:

Ringwraiths(Black speech) - ring(Black speech) + carach(English) = an Easterling

Answer:

Nazgûl[Ringwraith] - nazg[ring] = ul

ul + fang[carach] = Ulfang

Notes:

• It would be good if all elements were connected to Middle-earth. Elements could either be translations, descriptions, pictures, or...cryptic clues! [img]smilies/evil.gif[/img]
  
• Operations will be from left to right, unless you put parentheses in groups you want done first.

I guess that's it. My first example:

(Mortals[Quenya] - cottage[Quenya]) + (A son of Elrond - (Horselords[Sindarin] - host[Sindarin]) = A daughter of kings.

I thought at first the 1st half = Ar; the 2nd = da; but this got me nowhere :(
EfR, I think a hint is in order...

Or one half = e, the other = a, maybe.....
I've given up on working this out myself, ;) so does anyone (particularly Elrond of Rivendell) mind if I post what I worked out in the hope that it can guide someone else to the answer?
