Man of skill

Telchar 12-14-2001 01:57 AM

Is the question here : Who is odd out???
The I say Gandalf for being the only one who stayed true to his quest.

mordor136 12-14-2001 10:17 PM

No, it was just to list them in order. By the way didn't Gandalf come last. Still good answer but wrong question.

Elrian 12-15-2001 12:07 AM

Yes, I think he got off the boat last. It said something about Cirdan greeting them and Gandalf came last, that's when Cirdan gave him the Elven ring telling he would have a better use for it.

mordor136 12-15-2001 12:50 AM

thanks for backing me up pal

Telchar 12-17-2001 03:31 AM

Sorry - my misreading the previous post - Gandalf came last thats correct but years later and not on the same boat...

Joy 02-17-2002 03:33 AM

It has been more than 7 days, so I will post.

What other names did Alatar and Pallando have and what did they mean?

Joy 02-19-2002 09:19 PM

Come on guys, I know someone here knows this one! Hint, Hint Bruce

Eowyn of Ithilien 02-20-2002 02:29 AM

the Blue Wizards because they wore blue robes...they went into the East and don't really come into the tales

Joy 02-20-2002 02:36 AM

Correct Eowyn! Good job!

Eowyn of Ithilien 02-21-2002 05:47 AM

alright...I can only think of easy ones coz it must be a month since I've read any of the books
what reason did one of the Istari give for not wishing to lead the council?

zifnab 02-21-2002 10:41 AM

That would be Mithrandir.

He desired no ties and no allegiance(save the ones who sent him), and he would not abide in any place.

Eowyn of Ithilien 02-22-2002 11:41 PM

pray continue

zifnab 02-23-2002 02:53 PM

Ok, I can't think of a good one at the moment either. But here goes....

Manwe wanted a certain Istati to go. That certain Istari said that he was "to weak for such a task, and that he feared Sauron". In which Manwe replied, "That is all the more reason why you should go".

Who was the "Certain Istari"?

I know its an easy one, but I'm at a loss at the moment!

onewhitetree 02-23-2002 03:35 PM

That would be Olórin, would it not?

zifnab 02-24-2002 01:12 AM

Your right! Hard one, wasn't it?! (; Your turn.

onewhitetree 02-24-2002 01:30 AM

Ok...what did Olórin the Istari give to the Old Took that was quite remarkable?

Dwarin Thunderhammer 02-24-2002 01:47 AM

Cufflinks that never came undone?

zifnab 02-24-2002 01:51 AM

Magical diamond studs, which fastened and unfastened on command!

onewhitetree 02-24-2002 01:53 AM

The zifferoo has got it! Close, Dwarin, but they would come undone if ordered so.

zifnab 02-24-2002 02:01 AM

Dwarin Thunderhammer 02-24-2002 02:02 AM

zifnab 02-24-2002 02:06 AM

Your right! Your turn!

Dwarin Thunderhammer 02-24-2002 02:19 AM

Who were the black wizard, because there was a white one they had to have a black one....... Seriously though Here is my question:

What did gandalf wear around his neck and what color was it?

onewhitetree 02-24-2002 02:21 AM

A silver scarf.

zifnab 02-24-2002 02:22 AM

Scarf? Silver or White?

Sauron was the Black Wizard!

Dwarin Thunderhammer 02-24-2002 02:25 AM

Good job onewhite tree ask away!

onewhitetree 02-24-2002 02:38 AM

A bit obscure, I'll admit, but Istari knowledge is thin. I'm feeling evil, so what the heck? How many stairs were there to the threshold of Saruman's abode, Orthanc?

zifnab 02-24-2002 02:44 AM

27!

onewhitetree 02-24-2002 02:49 AM

Excellent! You even get a point for answering with such a big toothy grin.

zifnab 02-24-2002 02:55 AM

Thanks for the point!

Ok......

Who had "raven hair and a fair voice"?

Dwarin Thunderhammer 02-24-2002 02:59 AM

Radagast?
