The Ultamate Quiz

This is quiz for everyone, but topics are limited to only the LotR books, The Hobbit, creatures (from Eru to the Flies of Mordor), plants, Kingdoms/realms, landmasses, and forms of water.

FIRST: Who were the forms Horses taken of, and who's steed was he? Also mention his name, and if possible, the color of his hooves and coat.

Joy 06-23-2002 09:10 PM

Pallando, I'm not quite sure of your question.

What I am thinking of is the Meares, the Horses of Rohan. I was thinking that these horse were an ospring of Nahar, the Horse of Oromė, the Valar. His coat was white in the sunlight and silver in the moonlight. I don't remember if it said anything about his hooves.

Pallando 06-24-2002 10:42 AM

Whoa! You ARE good! Your turn, and his hooves were golden.

Joy 06-24-2002 02:03 PM

Palando, I thought his hooves were golden, but I couldn't find it in the Sil. I remembered reading that somewhere though.

Where does Estė sleep?

Lindolirian 06-24-2002 03:00 PM

I think its on an island in the Lake Lorelinn in the Gardens of Lorien.

Joy 06-24-2002 03:49 PM

Lindolirian, so close, but not quite.

On an Island in the lake of Lorellin in Valinor.

Joy 06-24-2002 04:36 PM

Again, Salix has it. Very good!

Salix 06-24-2002 07:53 PM

I had my copy of the Silm handy.
Where did Eol live and who was he related to besides Maeglin and Aredhel?

Joy 06-24-2002 07:58 PM

Salix, just re-read that chapter today!

Eöl lived in Nan Elmoth and King Thingol was his kinsman.

Salix 06-24-2002 08:16 PM

Good job! Your go.

Joy 06-25-2002 02:02 AM

What does Helluin represent?

Pallando 06-25-2002 01:42 PM

Helluin: The name in Middle-Earth for the star today known as the Dog Star, Sirius. Its name appears to mean 'ice-blue'. Helluin is the brightest of Varda’s stars!

Good?

Joy 06-25-2002 05:54 PM

Very good Palando. Also, according to HoMe, it represents Tulkas's son, Telimektar.

Pallando 06-25-2002 07:00 PM

Most of my question is in Quenya, yet ai!, at some points I didn't know their Quenya equivilent. So, here it is!

Ya arta did Estel ar tara Periannath fuume at, iire tara Kormaorme (tara Nazgūl) ohtacyr?

Maar mart! (Good luck!)

Lindolirian 06-26-2002 09:40 PM

AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!! thats it I'm dropping french so i can learn quenya!!!! grrrr...

Lindolirian 06-28-2002 12:29 AM

Ok so far i make ur question to be...
(i can't find a translation for "Ya") exatled or lofty did Aragorn (i take it you mean him since his nickname is capitalized rather than just meaning "hope") and the Halfings can't find translation for the rest. So, im guessing its somethimg about Aragorn, the hobbits and the Nazgul. The only encounter between all of them was at Weathertop. Perhaps you are asking how they kept the Ringwraiths away. That was with fire. hmmm i can't think of many other questions you might ask, but i do now i just made it a HECK of alot easier on the next person in case i did get it wrong. gee whiz... LOL!!!!

Lin, you are partally correct. Amon Sul. BTW, "Ya arta did Estel ar tara Periannath fuume at, iire tara Kormaorme[3] (tara Nazgūl) ohtacyr?" means "What fort did Estel[1] and the Halflings[2] sleep at, when the Ringwraiths (the Nazgūl) attack?"

Your turn!

[1] Aragorn
[2] Hobbits
[3] The accual words that "ring" and "wraiths" transfer into if you want to use a diffrent name aside from "The Ring-wraiths", "Wraiths", and "The Nazgūl".

Lindolirian 06-28-2002 10:23 AM

Lindolirian 06-28-2002 02:00 PM
