give ya a clue

All right...who can tell me who is being talked about is? And don't be so quick to think it is...for it might be...or it could possibly be...
"Escaped?" cried Aragorn. "This is ill news indeed. We shall all rue it bitterly, I fear. How came the folk of Thranduil to fail in their trust?"

Nevfeniel 07-07-2002 10:34 PM

Is it when Gollum escaped from Mirkwood?

Anorien 07-08-2002 12:37 AM

Correct! But who is talking to who???

Susan Delgado 07-08-2002 01:12 AM

Aragorn to Gandalf?

Anorien 07-08-2002 03:33 PM

yes!

Daniel Telcontar 07-08-2002 03:52 PM

Or more correctly, the Council at Elrond, when Legolas tells the news of Gollum's escape.

Anorien 07-08-2002 03:54 PM

are you sure? i thought it was in Moria. i could be wrong

Daniel Telcontar 07-08-2002 04:03 PM

trust me, I am positive. It was in Rivendell, and it was the only reason Legolas was at the council, because his father had sent him with the news of Gollum's escape.

Anorien 07-08-2002 04:10 PM

oh, and he jut went with the fellowship for fun? lol!
yeah, that also comes in where i only read the parts that had the name frodo in them somewhere. pathetic aren't i?

Well, yes, at times you are. But don't worry, you aren't alone.
Legolas didn't join the Fellowship because he had spare time, though. He was chosen by Elrond.

Anorien 07-08-2002 04:16 PM

i know, i know, i know. it was a joke. and i'm not that pathetic, am i?

Daniel Telcontar 07-08-2002 04:18 PM

No don't worry, it was just a feeble attempt on my behalf to use my sense of humor.

Anorien 07-08-2002 04:20 PM

well, i'll laugh out loud for you. lol lol lol lol!

Daniel Telcontar 07-08-2002 04:23 PM

Thanks, that helped.

Anorien 07-08-2002 04:24 PM

that's what i'm here for

Daniel Telcontar 07-08-2002 04:29 PM

Good to have my private laughter fairy around...

Anorien 07-08-2002 04:31 PM

is that what i am? a laughter fairy? lol!

Daniel Telcontar 07-08-2002 04:34 PM

My head is a bit sleepy... May explain some of the weird posts.

Anorien 07-08-2002 04:35 PM

are you always on in the middle of the night??

Daniel Telcontar 07-08-2002 04:43 PM

Well, at that time it is afternoon/evening in the USA, and then there are many other Downers online. So I like to be online at this time, because then most things happen.

Anorien 07-08-2002 04:44 PM

yeah, i guess your right. so where are you from? are you like speaking another language? huh???

Daniel Telcontar 07-08-2002 04:49 PM

As you should know by now, I'm Danish, so that would be my native langauge. But it is closely related to English, and most Danes have little trouble learning to speak English. I must confess, though, that I am often in Doubt whether if what I write is possible to say in English.

Anorien 07-08-2002 04:51 PM

really? that's odd. i know a little spanish, but that is the extent of my biligual abilities.

Daniel Telcontar 07-08-2002 04:53 PM

Well, English and Danish are both Germanic languages, and the Vikings influenced English a lot, making it very similar to the scandinavian languages. And today we use a lot of english words like they were danish.

Anorien 07-08-2002 04:56 PM

cool! i never really thought about that. are you speaking danish now, and it's just being translated? or, are you speaking english? cause if you are, you're doing very well.

Daniel Telcontar 07-08-2002 04:57 PM

I have to translate everything myself, yes. But I sometimes cheat and use a dictionary.

Anorien 07-08-2002 04:59 PM

tsk tsk tsk. lol! that's ok.

Daniel Telcontar 07-08-2002 05:03 PM

In some of the discussions, where the others use words I have never even heard of, I sometimes get a bit depressed. But luckily my father is an English teacher, so if I goes totally down he's there to help me.

Anorien 07-08-2002 05:06 PM

well, that's good. here, i'm gonna talk to you like i usually do, and see if you can make out what i'm saying! hullo dude? so wuz up? ya dunno hows its all great. even dou i dun think dat dere's moa den dat. ya gotcha?

Daniel Telcontar 07-08-2002 05:09 PM

hullo dude? so wuz up? ya dunno hows its all great. even dou i dun think dat dere's moa den dat. ya gotcha?´

Translation:
Hi mate. What is going on? I don't know, it is all great. Even though I don't think that there's more to it than that. You got me?

And then a greeting for you: Radicitus, comes!

Anorien 07-08-2002 05:13 PM

you are good! hey, wanna meet me in the chat room, we are getting in trouble for just chatting here.

Anorien 07-08-2002 07:12 PM

well, that was fun!

Lothiriel Silmarien 07-08-2002 08:17 PM

Wow....very interesting

Anorien 07-08-2002 08:24 PM

we did get a little carried away, huh?

Arwen Imladris 07-09-2002 07:46 PM

O.K. Bacl ON TOPIC otherwise I am sure that someone will close this thread:

Bilbo: 'Course he does. He's a Baggins. Not some block-headed Bracegirdle from Hardbottle.

Who was he talking to and who was he talking about?

Daniel Telcontar 07-10-2002 05:43 AM

maybe talking to Gandalf about Frodo?

Arwen Imladris 07-12-2002 05:47 PM

Yup! You are correct! Gandalf had just said something like "Frodo suspects something".

Your turn!
